<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VmoW5DcPuXU/UifUCbg3HxI/AAAAAAAAJf8/JA7cjucPMLs/s1600/Kay+Fatula+Header.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VmoW5DcPuXU/UifUCbg3HxI/AAAAAAAAJf8/JA7cjucPMLs/s400/Kay+Fatula+Header.png" width="400" /></a>Hello once again fellow crafters! For those of you who may not know--I've been missing in action for the past 2-3 months. We recently moved to a new home & I honestly didn't realize how much this move would turn my world upside down. We're now in a much bigger house where I even have a designated craft room. Something I've dreamed of for a very long time. However, settling in & getting back into some kind of a routine has taken a very long time. At least longer than I had anticipated. Many who have bought & sold homes in the past have told me that it's very normal to be completely overwhelmed when settling into a new home. So I don't feel too bad that it's taken me this long to get back into the swing of things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With this said--a couple of things will be happening in the next few weeks. For one, I'll be re-opening my Etsy <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>. I definitely hope to have this back up by the end of September. Second, I have a brand new blog. A big thank you to the fabulous & very talented <a href="http://emisjustagirlwithideas.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Emma Stafrace</a> who designed the blog for me. I had a vision & she made this vision a reality! I'm so very excited to introduce <a href="http://www.embrace-serendipity.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Embrace Serendipity</a>. Therefore, this post will be the last one on this blog. Please do feel free to continue following me via my new blog.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My new blow is a work in progress--I've transferred most of my tutorials over & will start to upload formal posts very soon. I have a few old projects to share & many new ones coming up!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope to see many of you over at my new blog. As always, I big thank you to all of those who stop by for a visit!</div>

Hello fellow scrappers! Yes, I know--where have I been!? Well just one word. Packing! I'm the middle of buying & selling a home & for those of you out there that have done this, I'm sure you're quite aware as to how hectic, stressful & time consuming this entire process is. We're set to physically move in less than a week & packing/prepping has been taking up a gigantic amount of my time--in addtion to my full time job that eats up 8 hours of my day. I'm hoping that once I move & get the time to settle down I'll slowly get back into my old routine. I sure do miss it! I haven't been able to peacefully scrap in about 2 months now.<br />
<br />
Today I finally decided to take a break & put up this post. For me this is a sanity check--am going back for just a few minutes to something that I love which is crafting. I decided to post this layout I made for both <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a> & <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. I've also used several of Authentique's new stamps made by Hampton Art. Authentique has 3 of these sets which are co-branded by Hampton Art. All papers used were from Authentique's Seasons: Summer Collection.<br />
<br />
This is my son during one of his 'tummy time' sessions. He's got these huge almond shaped eyes & this photo captured those big doe eyes at thier best. :-)<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MscPVW1bX9Q/UYbdJdjRLaI/AAAAAAAAJXM/MAhTcsFveeg/s1600/IMG_0120.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MscPVW1bX9Q/UYbdJdjRLaI/AAAAAAAAJXM/MAhTcsFveeg/s400/IMG_0120.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The script stamp as well as the stamped 'You Are My Sunshine' title are new stamps by Authentique/Hampton Art. The script stamp is from the 'Keep Me Posted' collection & the title is from the 'Footloose' collection.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h992SGBWZX8/UYbdI2m9tgI/AAAAAAAAJW4/-5IcmXCLP6I/s1600/IMG_0118.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h992SGBWZX8/UYbdI2m9tgI/AAAAAAAAJW4/-5IcmXCLP6I/s400/IMG_0118.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The stamped sentiment is from the 'Grateful Heart' collection.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qyzzsifvNWA/UYbdIlWZTkI/AAAAAAAAJWw/5h86KSr4VXU/s1600/IMG_0117.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qyzzsifvNWA/UYbdIlWZTkI/AAAAAAAAJWw/5h86KSr4VXU/s400/IMG_0117.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
My cluster of embellies including my journaling which is stored in a scroll. This is officially a must for me now. I document all the stories behind my layouts & I found this to be the most convenient for me.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDFSsd5gAsY/UYbdIVvB1UI/AAAAAAAAJW8/U_LP2aG447E/s1600/IMG_0111.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZDFSsd5gAsY/UYbdIVvB1UI/AAAAAAAAJW8/U_LP2aG447E/s400/IMG_0111.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
For this stamp I heat embossed it with black glittered embossing powder to give it a bit more dimension.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jVBoxSokZ2Q/UYbdIFl663I/AAAAAAAAJW0/tMJRzEVIk80/s1600/IMG_0109.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jVBoxSokZ2Q/UYbdIFl663I/AAAAAAAAJW0/tMJRzEVIk80/s400/IMG_0109.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This acrylic frame is by Clear Scraps. It's the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csafrsovalfan.htm" target="_blank">Small Oval Fancy Frame</a>. To give it color I applied drops of alcohol inks directly from the bottle onto the acrylic frame. Then waited a few minutes for it to dry. Directly applying alcohol inks onto acrylic in this way produces much more bolder colors & design.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CyLHGAxjLJk/UYbdIGp1ELI/AAAAAAAAJXI/vOpPEwQuwII/s1600/IMG_0108.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CyLHGAxjLJk/UYbdIGp1ELI/AAAAAAAAJXI/vOpPEwQuwII/s400/IMG_0108.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Another close up of the acrylic frame as well as my masking in the upper corners of my layout. The mask used is the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmswirl6.htm" target="_blank">6" Swirl Mascil</a> also by Clear Scraps.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8AF2TYlRxbA/UYbdH0X5C6I/AAAAAAAAJWg/Okg6166L7Wg/s1600/IMG_0105.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8AF2TYlRxbA/UYbdH0X5C6I/AAAAAAAAJWg/Okg6166L7Wg/s400/IMG_0105.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I added more dimension all along my page by placing dots of acrylic paint onto my honeycomb die cuts. <br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by & I hope to be back soon with more posts. I'll most likely be MIA for a bit longer while I move & actually settle down. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

Welcome to the <a href="http://clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> 'Ideas For Summer Crafting' Blog Hop! If you're here from Wendy's <a href="http://www.paperinkandsmiles.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">blog</a> then you're on the right track!<br />
<br />
For this blog hop I decided to do a Summer themed card. I've used the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssichalfscal.htm" target="_blank">Half Scallop Send It Clear Card</a> by Clear Scraps. <br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5v0rQ0vcTlQ/UaQ4Lm8pK1I/AAAAAAAAJcY/MygSnTMooWk/s1600/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer1.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5v0rQ0vcTlQ/UaQ4Lm8pK1I/AAAAAAAAJcY/MygSnTMooWk/s400/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer1.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've decorated it with designer paper by Authentique & have highlighted the border with a Blue Sharpie Oil Based Paint Pen. All the flourishes & decorative elements seen in the pictures are rub ons which work wonders on acrylic!<br />
<br />
Here are a few more close ups...<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eeT_fIA60Tc/UaQ4MGLz37I/AAAAAAAAJco/lwMimzrKPTY/s1600/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer3.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eeT_fIA60Tc/UaQ4MGLz37I/AAAAAAAAJco/lwMimzrKPTY/s400/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer3.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6AUIs2ik9U/UaQ4LS76JzI/AAAAAAAAJcQ/b2_WdYOLRt0/s1600/IMG_0097-001.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6AUIs2ik9U/UaQ4LS76JzI/AAAAAAAAJcQ/b2_WdYOLRt0/s400/IMG_0097-001.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hKQRVQnqQ-k/UaQ4LVK_v9I/AAAAAAAAJcU/jEfrTwpprl4/s1600/IMG_0099.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hKQRVQnqQ-k/UaQ4LVK_v9I/AAAAAAAAJcU/jEfrTwpprl4/s400/IMG_0099.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I love the subtle yet visually appealing effect you get by highlighting the edges of a 'Send It Clear Card'.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6oDnrTSHgPA/UaQ4MJ0yixI/AAAAAAAAJcs/2qXer_2qEr8/s1600/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer2.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6oDnrTSHgPA/UaQ4MJ0yixI/AAAAAAAAJcs/2qXer_2qEr8/s400/Kay+Fatula_May_Project3_Summer2.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Your next stop is Pinky's <a href="http://www.blueyecicle.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">blog</a>. Thanks for stopping by & don't forget to leave comments on each blog that you visit in order to qualify for a Clear Scraps prize!<br />

Good evening fellow scrappers! Happy May--to me May is equivalent with mom. This particular Mother's Day was very specifal for me because it's the first Mother's Day that I'll be celebrating being a mom myself! What an incredibly rewarding feeling this is! So in honor of this speciall event here's a page made with me & my little guy. This is a DT page that I've made for <a href="http://www.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a> & <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. I've used Authentique's lovely papers from the 'Grace' collection. 'Grace' is geared towards mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers or friend. It's lovely mixture of florals, feminine patters & sweet sentiments which made it just right for this layout based on myself with my little guy.<br />
<br />
As my son gets a bit older it's become quite clear that he's got my eyes. They are large, a bit on the almond shaped side & a perfect shade of dark brown. My husband's eyes are blue & I remember that I wished so much for my son's eyes to have my husbands ocean blue eyes. But fate decided that he would have his mother's eyes--and I'm so happy it turned out this way! I feel so very connected with him in many ways--but the fact that he has his mother's eyes adds one very extra special connection to me.<br />
<br />
I've also used one of Clear Scraps newest additions--a Clearly Framed <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csafrmcirscalp.htm" target="_blank">Medium Circle Scallop Frame</a> on this page.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8vkuhBrQQ3o/UVD6Afa6qOI/AAAAAAAAJDw/_0X4mIkMjqI/s1600/IMG_1833.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8vkuhBrQQ3o/UVD6Afa6qOI/AAAAAAAAJDw/_0X4mIkMjqI/s400/IMG_1833.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
As you can see, I've become addicted to these tiny flocked teddy bears that I buy at my local AC Moore. I've bought many of them in all different colors! They make for the cutest embellishments for child or baby themed pages!<br />
<br />
The wooden sentiment spoke to me in a special way--basically because since my son was born I've always sang to him "You Are My Sunshine". Whether it's to soothe him from crying, to put him to sleep or to make him smile--the song does wonders for him.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ldzfxY8FHw8/UVD6Ae-6xHI/AAAAAAAAJDo/pxqzPVMEUsk/s1600/IMG_1834.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ldzfxY8FHw8/UVD6Ae-6xHI/AAAAAAAAJDo/pxqzPVMEUsk/s400/IMG_1834.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've once again used the hot air balloon die by La-La Land Crafts! I feel that it's the cutest die & can be decorated in several ways.<br />
<br />
To make the waved border seen in the background of my page, I've used a template by <a href="http://www.kiwilane.com/" target="_blank">Kiwi Lane</a> called Paisley Place. To further decorate this border I've adhered a bit of lace to the bottom layer & edge of the top layer is distressed & inked.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1EZUvf4uAGE/UVD6BDNpW_I/AAAAAAAAJEA/HqMdad4Bqic/s1600/IMG_1835.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1EZUvf4uAGE/UVD6BDNpW_I/AAAAAAAAJEA/HqMdad4Bqic/s400/IMG_1835.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here you can see several papers from the 'Grace' collection layered to form my background as well as one of their many stickers that are part of & coordinate with this collection.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jtKzXMsp2FU/UVD6BGAIRSI/AAAAAAAAJEE/G9z3K6spKOg/s1600/IMG_1836.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jtKzXMsp2FU/UVD6BGAIRSI/AAAAAAAAJEE/G9z3K6spKOg/s400/IMG_1836.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's a close up of the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> Scallop Circle Frame. I first highlighted the border of the frame with a permanent white Sharpie Oil Based Paint Marker. I then cut the frame in half--ran each half through my Big Shot in order to dry emboss it & give it a bit of dimension & texture & I was done! This is a very simple technique for acrylic but adds a really nice subtle touch to any project.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HRpcOWSM3Dg/UVD6BvR9j0I/AAAAAAAAJEI/6J9_J69pbbs/s1600/IMG_1837.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HRpcOWSM3Dg/UVD6BvR9j0I/AAAAAAAAJEI/6J9_J69pbbs/s400/IMG_1837.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The butterflies are items from my small Etsy shop--these would be the 'Vintage Flair' butterflies. I have these & many other butterflies available in shop <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">here</a> if interested.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jfd0H5mIDZ8/UVD6B8RX5wI/AAAAAAAAJEY/MLSJMdQ-Xq8/s1600/IMG_1838.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jfd0H5mIDZ8/UVD6B8RX5wI/AAAAAAAAJEY/MLSJMdQ-Xq8/s400/IMG_1838.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This lovely handmade flower was bought from yet another Etsy shop titled 'More Paper Than Shoes'. Anna, the owner, makes many beautiful & delicate handmade flowers--not just for crafting but for weddings, corsages and more! You can check out her shop <a href="http://www.morepaperthanshoes.etsy.com/" target="_blank">here</a> if interested. <br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DXoWNGlCi7Q/UVD6CPubBBI/AAAAAAAAJEU/L-j0NUJkZIw/s1600/IMG_1841.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DXoWNGlCi7Q/UVD6CPubBBI/AAAAAAAAJEU/L-j0NUJkZIw/s400/IMG_1841.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I really enjoy all the little sentiments that came with this collection. I didn't have many coordinating embellies on hand for this page--but when I saw all of the little sentiments & stickers that came with 'Grace' I realized that I had nothing to worry about. <br />
<br />
Thanks for taking the time to stop by--hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

Good morning fellow crafters! Today's post is a page made for Berry71Bleu's May Challenge. The <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a> DT had the honor of collaborating with <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Once Upon A...Sketch (OUAS)</a> this month! So to enter this month's challenge you must first use the sketch provided by Nadia from OUAS & incorporate their challenge of using numbers anywhere on your project. The number can represent anything from your age, to birthdays to an anniversary--anything with numbers will work. Second you'll need to incorporate chipboard into your project which is Berry71Bleu's challenge.<br />
<br />
I decided to use numbers as part of the sentiment behind my page. This would be my son at approximately 1 1/2 months of age giving me one of his more 'pensive' looks. :-) Part of my journaling states how he's in my heart '24/7'.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CFO6etG7h9Y/UYb-Dj008NI/AAAAAAAAJY8/fzthy7ckAag/s1600/OUAS_MAY+2013.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CFO6etG7h9Y/UYb-Dj008NI/AAAAAAAAJY8/fzthy7ckAag/s400/OUAS_MAY+2013.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's the sketch provided by Nadia from OUAS that my page is based on.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yI9djhNHvaI/UYbz5pFa6xI/AAAAAAAAJYg/j5qCz-LipUY/s1600/IMG_0085.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yI9djhNHvaI/UYbz5pFa6xI/AAAAAAAAJYg/j5qCz-LipUY/s400/IMG_0085.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I added much more texture to my background by combining several stamps & creating a sort of collage. I used approximately 6 to 7 stamps & created the collage by overlapping the stamped images & by using different inks to do so. I've used black, green, purple & gray inks just to name a few.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-osdAoI1zY4Y/UYbz5rVvKuI/AAAAAAAAJYk/4Xwll0oZupg/s1600/IMG_0084.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-osdAoI1zY4Y/UYbz5rVvKuI/AAAAAAAAJYk/4Xwll0oZupg/s400/IMG_0084.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
All papers are from <a href="http://thelucky7factory.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Lucky7 Factory</a> & all the chippies are from <a href="http://www.scrapfx.com.au/store/index.php" target="_blank">Scrap FX</a> which are also a few of Berry71Bleu's sponsors for the month of May.<br />
<br />
I created simple circular embellishments throughout my page by using a circle punch to punch out circles & adhere them to the center of my circular stamped images with a foam dot. I inked all the edges of the circles to make them stand out more & added dots of acrylic paint to sections of the circle borders. <br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pie0O0idntI/UYbz5aJuJPI/AAAAAAAAJYc/6PKkhdrHZeA/s1600/IMG_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pie0O0idntI/UYbz5aJuJPI/AAAAAAAAJYc/6PKkhdrHZeA/s400/IMG_0082.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The spiral tissue flowers were also sponsored by Lucky7 Factory. The transparent butterfly is a new embellishment that will soon be available in my Etsy <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6MexlQTKy7c/UYbz4hl3g5I/AAAAAAAAJYE/2yCT6G3dGC8/s1600/IMG_0081.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6MexlQTKy7c/UYbz4hl3g5I/AAAAAAAAJYE/2yCT6G3dGC8/s400/IMG_0081.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I'm a big fan of owls & love placing them in my pages whenever I can.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J__3R5FmY8w/UYbz4zUPmMI/AAAAAAAAJYQ/GWayBGvcZao/s1600/IMG_0080.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J__3R5FmY8w/UYbz4zUPmMI/AAAAAAAAJYQ/GWayBGvcZao/s400/IMG_0080.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This lovely tag was handmade by Marivic & my journaling is stored in the scroll right next to the tag. Storing my journaling in the form of scrolls has almost become my trademark. I tend to use these on just about all of my pages. I have a tutorial on how I make these scrolls <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> if interested.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tdrtxGgTOvE/UYbz4_JtM2I/AAAAAAAAJYI/CvRbZgdLhEs/s1600/IMG_0079.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tdrtxGgTOvE/UYbz4_JtM2I/AAAAAAAAJYI/CvRbZgdLhEs/s400/IMG_0079.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Finally, my cluster of embellies consisting of a flocked black teddy bear, spiral tissue flower by Lucky7 Factory & ribbon flowers that are from my own stash.<br />

Thanks for stopping by & do take the time to visit both the OUAS & Berry71Bleu blogs for more inspiration. Play along with both if you can! There are prizes to be won by a few lucky winners on both challenge blogs!<br />

Hello again fellow crafters & welcome to May! Finally here in the North East Coast I can honestly say that Spring has arrived. On that note, I've decided to post this 'Spring' themed mini album. For this mini I've joined two fabulous manufacturers to create one very colorful mini album. All papers used for this mini is by <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique </a>& the mini acrylic & chipboard album is by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. <br />
<br />
The paper is from Authentique's Petite 'Spring' collection & the mini album is the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csmxspring.htm" target="_blank">Spring Mixables</a> album. I thoroughly enjoyed working with a mini that consisted of both acrylic & chipboard pages--the possibilities are so many with this combination & the clear nature of the acrylic pages adds such a wonderful visual appeal.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jlEkkumdGNc/UYHfGpA_4FI/AAAAAAAAJV0/LxziIGjSYKQ/s1600/IMG_1952.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jlEkkumdGNc/UYHfGpA_4FI/AAAAAAAAJV0/LxziIGjSYKQ/s400/IMG_1952.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've highlighted the cover of the mini by first going over the edges with a pink Sharpie Oil Based Paint marker which is a permanent marker. Any time you want to work with acrylic, it's best to use permanent markers and/ or permanent inks such as Staz-On. Next with a thin paint brush I've applied a thin layer of clear dry adhesive & spread Diamond Dust onto the adhesive. Once dry you get that 'crystal' effect all along the border and since the Diamond Dust is transparent & the adhesive dries clear, you'll see the pink Sharpie line peek through.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eimRmvloMVc/UYHfGKzow-I/AAAAAAAAJVg/dotWxOQibp8/s1600/IMG_1950.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eimRmvloMVc/UYHfGKzow-I/AAAAAAAAJVg/dotWxOQibp8/s400/IMG_1950.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's a closer look at the cover edges. You can also see the border of a chipboard page behind the acrylic page. I've covered all of my chipboard pages with designer paper, sanded the edges in order to smooth them out and then inked all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink. Finally I added dots of either Stickles or acrylic paint along the edges to further dress them up.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xxKfS63ZubA/UYHfGLrIe7I/AAAAAAAAJVc/_KMU17HLS2g/s1600/IMG_1949.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xxKfS63ZubA/UYHfGLrIe7I/AAAAAAAAJVc/_KMU17HLS2g/s400/IMG_1949.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've decorated the acrylic pages mostly with images that were cut from the Authentique papers & with rub-ons. In this photo you can see the different designs that are created with the acrylic & chipboard page combinations.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GGhTAfKvuQ8/UYHfGNjW-uI/AAAAAAAAJVY/DHOa4HhdFfQ/s1600/IMG_1945.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GGhTAfKvuQ8/UYHfGNjW-uI/AAAAAAAAJVY/DHOa4HhdFfQ/s400/IMG_1945.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The doilies is what will hold my photos. I've yet to take the photos that will go into this mini! I just know that once I do--the mini album will be prepped & ready to hold them. I may journal or tell the stories of my pictures on the inside of the last page of my mini or I may simply decide to add more photos here. I haven't quite decided yet.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wu0IXqJNK8A/UYHfE7zEPTI/AAAAAAAAJU8/ffP8YQuaWSs/s1600/IMG_1939.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wu0IXqJNK8A/UYHfE7zEPTI/AAAAAAAAJU8/ffP8YQuaWSs/s400/IMG_1939.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Isn't this umbrella & banner the perfect touch to a 'Spring' themed mini? When I saw these images I knew I had to fussy cut them out and arrange them onto my front cover. The mushroom bird & bird's nest are from my stash. These are little embellies I find by sometimes taking the time to go through the .50 cents or $1.00 clearance bin at my local craft store.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IVmwKRa4aJc/UYHfFRyteCI/AAAAAAAAJVE/B4zXy51uAzk/s1600/IMG_1941.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IVmwKRa4aJc/UYHfFRyteCI/AAAAAAAAJVE/B4zXy51uAzk/s400/IMG_1941.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Isn't the design of this album creative? The chipboard page is actually cut in the shape of two flowers. I've positioned my doilies on the following page so that when I adhere the photos, they'll peek through the center of the flowers that will 'frame' them when you're on this particular page. <br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XVfnSC8CU-A/UYHfFPDfaRI/AAAAAAAAJVA/RLm7MZTEzKQ/s1600/IMG_1942.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XVfnSC8CU-A/UYHfFPDfaRI/AAAAAAAAJVA/RLm7MZTEzKQ/s400/IMG_1942.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
As you can see I added dots of either Stickles or acrylic paint along just about all the borders of this mini. I think it helps the edges stand out a bit more.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CIu9_y-tCAA/UYHfFmOEDhI/AAAAAAAAJVM/91ROYYF16_w/s1600/IMG_1943.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CIu9_y-tCAA/UYHfFmOEDhI/AAAAAAAAJVM/91ROYYF16_w/s400/IMG_1943.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This mini can hold approximately 6-8 photos--it all depends on how you design it. I've added tulle & ribbon to the rings holding my mini together.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by & I hope you've been inspired to create a few 'Spring' themed projects! Enjoy the rest of the week.<br />

Good evening fellow scrappers! Spring is here--although it was barely 50 degrees here in the northern East Coast. Ugh...Mother Nature is playing mind games it seems. This is also when everybody seems to get sick. Hot one day, cold the next. I just got over a nasty chest cold that knocked me off my game for the past two weeks or so. I haven't been able to Zumba in two weeks!! GASP! I'm in complete withdrawal...tomorrow I'm going back and with a vengeance! Gonna shake it till I can't take it! <br />
<br />
Before I do that though, I figured I'd drop a quick post & share this altered wooden mini album that I created for the April <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a> challenge. Here's my husband & son. I captured my son's beautiful bright smile in this one & felt it was very much 'frame-worthy'!<br />
<br />
I'm a big fan of plain wooden square frames. First because they're quite affordable. I got this one at my local Michaels for $1.50. Second, because they're plain it's a crafter's dream! You can do just about anything to it. Paint it, stain it, stencil it, apply loads of mixed media to it or keep it simple and just adhere a bit of designer paper to it--which is what I decided to do.<br />
<br />
I used paper from Inkido which also happens to be one of our sponsors for the month of April! This was my first time working with Inkido and I have to say--they have lovely pattern paper.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_OQrO-84yU/UWyGLoXuMmI/AAAAAAAAJLA/mzgsxntsps0/s1600/IMG_0033.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_OQrO-84yU/UWyGLoXuMmI/AAAAAAAAJLA/mzgsxntsps0/s400/IMG_0033.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've used a combination of felt, mulberry paper & organza ribbon flowers to satisfy Debbie's April challenge which is to use flowers on your project.<br />
<br />
The large felt flower I purchased from an Etsy shop called <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/KnockKnocking" target="_blank">Knock Knocking</a>. The light blue organza ribbon star flower are flowers from my stash. I have several of these organza ribbon star flowers in various colors up for grabs now in my <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>. Feel free to take a look if interested!<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jrZtgqIkqco/UWyGHTCCArI/AAAAAAAAJKw/VYr1x65KD-k/s1600/IMG_0028.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jrZtgqIkqco/UWyGHTCCArI/AAAAAAAAJKw/VYr1x65KD-k/s400/IMG_0028.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This is why scrappers never throw anything out. This is one of two mini peacocks that I've had in my stash since Eternity was in diapers! After all this time--I discovered that they'd make quite a unique decoration for a wooden frame. So here's the first of two peacocks strutting it's feathers on my wooden frame.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ur_CPFt2N9k/UWyGHR0SXlI/AAAAAAAAJK0/TLc-vpd0QkY/s1600/IMG_0031.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ur_CPFt2N9k/UWyGHR0SXlI/AAAAAAAAJK0/TLc-vpd0QkY/s400/IMG_0031.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The butterflies were hand cut from one of Inkido's designer papers. T<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, Utopia, 'Palatino Linotype', Palatino, serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">his collection has several images of lovely butterflies, flowers & birds that can be fussy cut & used as embellishments for your projects. I further dressed up the butterflies by applying a bit of Black Diamond Stickles to the bodies.</span><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KYR9z2g5nXU/UWyGLiGnN7I/AAAAAAAAJLE/FW5uBXVVYKY/s1600/IMG_0032.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KYR9z2g5nXU/UWyGLiGnN7I/AAAAAAAAJLE/FW5uBXVVYKY/s400/IMG_0032.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Gotta love these metal trinkets! They make for great embellies to masculine themed projects.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a8LKb8AUvsk/UWyGHQXjwFI/AAAAAAAAJKo/8MipPbniM1s/s1600/IMG_0025.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a8LKb8AUvsk/UWyGHQXjwFI/AAAAAAAAJKo/8MipPbniM1s/s400/IMG_0025.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
A side view of my frame. I have yet to decide if I'm going to display this at my home or at my work desk at the office. I'm leaning more towards work--we all need as many happy thoughts & distractions at work as we can get!<br />
<br />
Make sure you stop by Berry71Bleu and play along with the April challenge! There are a few fabulous prizes for some lucky players up for grabs. You can see all the details of the challenge plus the rules & prizes <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/2013/04/april-challenge-flowers.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

Good evening fellow scrappers! Today I'm sharing a page that recently went up on the <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a> blog. I've used papers from their fabulous 'Strong' collection. The patterns, designs & colors of this collection are absolutely perfect for masculine themed pages.<br />
<br />
Lately I've been taken several photos of my husband & son together & this one is my most recent favorite. Here they are on Superbowl Sunday posing in matching NY Giants jerseys. Eli Manning jerseys to be exact! My husband is making sure that my son is a die hard NY Giants fan from very early on.<br />
<br />
From a scrapper's point of view I noticed that the bright blue colors of the jerseys went along perfectly with the colors in the 'Strong' collection. :-) That's how I see most of my photos...what's the predominant color in the photo and which papers fit that photo best.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFQkN7mG6-0/UVjVsZAtvUI/AAAAAAAAJFk/TKyCtzvrjdE/s1600/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong2_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFQkN7mG6-0/UVjVsZAtvUI/AAAAAAAAJFk/TKyCtzvrjdE/s400/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong2_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
I'm sure many of you are used to seeing my journaling stored in the form of a scroll. I just can't get enough of this way of storing journaling. I love it!! Can you tell? I only seem to use it in just about every other layout I do. For me it's been a life saver since I tend to tell a story with all of my pages. I had to always adhere my story to the back and I didn't really want to do that--being able to store my story as part of my page, keeping it private & being able to add a unique type of embellishment to my page satisfies all my needs! So I think you'll be seeing these little scrolls for a bit longer!<br />
<br />
If anyone is interested, I did make a tutorial on how I go about making these scrolls. You can find that tutorial <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZBh4XiAVyys/UVjVuM9RzAI/AAAAAAAAJF8/6gpFugtOe1c/s1600/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong4_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZBh4XiAVyys/UVjVuM9RzAI/AAAAAAAAJF8/6gpFugtOe1c/s400/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong4_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
I framed my photo with elements & die cuts that come with the 'Strong' collection. I just inked the edges a bit and highlighted the polka dots on the patterned paper by adding a bit of Star Dust Stickles to them.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XTs4vEiZzTA/UVj_PE9F6KI/AAAAAAAAJGQ/-sp-I3ZOb_Y/s1600/IMG_2006_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XTs4vEiZzTA/UVj_PE9F6KI/AAAAAAAAJGQ/-sp-I3ZOb_Y/s400/IMG_2006_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
The splatters were made with a stamp by Vilda Stamps conveniently called 'Splatter'. I also added dots of dark blue acrylic paint to the splatters. I randomly adhered a bit of pearls & rhinestones onto my background.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bRP3ASwJXlM/UVjVsVeE_RI/AAAAAAAAJFs/sUxDlAKQBow/s1600/IMG_2005_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bRP3ASwJXlM/UVjVsVeE_RI/AAAAAAAAJFs/sUxDlAKQBow/s400/IMG_2005_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
I decided to do a bit of fancy stitching on this page. I combined both bakers twine & embroidery floss to create these very long stitches. <br />
<br />
With a paper piercer I've pierced holes along the border. I used the 12" Design Ruler by Tim Holtz to pierce the holes. This ruler has holes in it just for this purpose. I pierced every other hole in order to space out my twine/floss. I then strung the twine through a needle and this is how I thread my twine/floss through the pierced hole & the mini note that is holding my title as well.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CT6_bNMB5Ks/UVjVtGe12OI/AAAAAAAAJF4/7a2z2LNg8Xc/s1600/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong3_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CT6_bNMB5Ks/UVjVtGe12OI/AAAAAAAAJF4/7a2z2LNg8Xc/s400/KayFatula_April_Project2_Strong3_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
With a 3/16" circle hand punch, I've punched a hole in the middle of the mini note (elements that also come with the 'Strong' collection) and converted the mini note into a tag. Instead of stringing ribbon through the hole--I instead reinforced the punched hole with an eyelet & strung the baker's twine & embroidery floss through it. I then covered all that strung twine & floss with a brown mulberry paper daisy.<br />
<br />

For my project, I decided to combine Taylored Expressions '<a href="http://www.tayloredexpressions.com/item.php?item_id=2974&page=9&category_id=257" target="_blank">Keeping Tabs Die</a>' & '<a href="http://www.tayloredexpressions.com/item.php?item_id=4092&page=10&category_id=257" target="_blank">Layering Doily Die - Medium</a>' with Authentique's Renew collection.<br />
<br />
This would be my little guy Toby giving me one of his over the shoulder looks! I was finally able to capture this infamous move of his with my camera & this was the perfect project to showcase it. The fabulous soft turquoise, yellow & black color scheme of the Renew collection made for a 'playful' page which is the feeling I wanted this page to convey.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ue4Nqx4C7Jw/UWVsetTZoII/AAAAAAAAJIg/Kzesgfu2cds/s1600/IMG_0007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ue4Nqx4C7Jw/UWVsetTZoII/AAAAAAAAJIg/Kzesgfu2cds/s400/IMG_0007.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here you can see both dies by Taylored Expressions layered. I first ran through the doily die--cut the die in half and simply flipped one half of the circle die over. I then offset the two layers just slightly so that the black would peek through from behind the white side. Next I layered the 'Keeping Tabs Die' which I accentuated by applying a large brad through it.</div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RjIo5QvWwCA/UWVsfDBxKHI/AAAAAAAAJIs/R_wy23l1hJo/s1600/IMG_0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RjIo5QvWwCA/UWVsfDBxKHI/AAAAAAAAJIs/R_wy23l1hJo/s400/IMG_0009.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I did a bit of paper rolling as seen here to give the page a bit of dimension. Here's the 'Layering Doily Die' once again by it's own. I just added a bit of pastel yellow acrylic paint dots to the hearts in order to dress it up a bit.</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PIw_qDiIrSI/UWVserWqdnI/AAAAAAAAJIo/OhMkqt2W6vg/s1600/IMG_0006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PIw_qDiIrSI/UWVserWqdnI/AAAAAAAAJIo/OhMkqt2W6vg/s400/IMG_0006.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I felt that one of these rolls made for a perfect nest for this little guy! So I adhered him right onto one of the largest rolls.</div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_pfedQXKwIw/UWVsevBnnuI/AAAAAAAAJIc/3UjKmfSUji0/s1600/IMG_0008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_pfedQXKwIw/UWVsevBnnuI/AAAAAAAAJIc/3UjKmfSUji0/s400/IMG_0008.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">I added a large brad to the center of each one of the 'Keeping Tabs Die'. This formed a kind of symetrical design on my page that happened purely by accident! :-) When I finished & looked at the page from afar I noticed it.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Here are a few more close ups...</div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLmX7WxFBCY/UWVsginsD7I/AAAAAAAAJJU/Zo7mKtQT6aU/s1600/IMG_0014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLmX7WxFBCY/UWVsginsD7I/AAAAAAAAJJU/Zo7mKtQT6aU/s400/IMG_0014.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
These clear <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csaefleudlis.htm" target="_blank">Fleur-d-Lis</a> embellishments are by <a href="http://clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. I highlighted the border with a yellow Sharpie paint pen and added a few dots of yellow acrylic paint to them.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2IKaHod4pPU/UWVsgstlmKI/AAAAAAAAJJY/1fZc92tR68w/s1600/IMG_0013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2IKaHod4pPU/UWVsgstlmKI/AAAAAAAAJJY/1fZc92tR68w/s400/IMG_0013.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">These bright turquoise organza star flowers are from my stash. I have many of these in several colors which I currently have up for grabs in my small Etsy <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vDCtj9F9zWw/UWVsgAE6CEI/AAAAAAAAJJE/BxwkqEXJLms/s1600/IMG_0012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vDCtj9F9zWw/UWVsgAE6CEI/AAAAAAAAJJE/BxwkqEXJLms/s400/IMG_0012.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jk7V-Oy2QvM/UWVsfwmTdII/AAAAAAAAJI8/qTT5QCkNLcc/s1600/IMG_0011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jk7V-Oy2QvM/UWVsfwmTdII/AAAAAAAAJI8/qTT5QCkNLcc/s400/IMG_0011.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The background was made with one of Clear Scraps most recent releases--a <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmdamask6.htm" target="_blank">6" Damask Mascil</a>. I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink and heavily applied it to my mask because I wanted the image of the mask to display brightly. I then further decorated the background with random dots of turquoise Stickles.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOxSBWe1rKc/UWVshQJev6I/AAAAAAAAJJk/VTX3yrQemNc/s1600/IMG_0018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" bua="true" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOxSBWe1rKc/UWVshQJev6I/AAAAAAAAJJk/VTX3yrQemNc/s400/IMG_0018.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Something that has become customary with my pages is storing my journaling in the form of a scroll. Good evening fellow scrappers! Today's post consists of a page I made for <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> a couple of months ago when we did a cross promotion with SEI, but never got around to posting. <br />
<br />
All the papers seen here are by SEI and I've used an <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csxldaz.htm" target="_blank">XL Dazed Shape</a> & an acrylic Fleur-d-Lis by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>.<br />
<br />
This is my little Toby as a puppy back in 2008. He had just finished running around or 'dancing' as I like to think of it as--in a summer rainstorm with me. It's one of my fondest memories of him as a puppy.<br />
<br />
Dancing in at least one summer rainstorm is kind of a tradition of mine. This was the first time I actually had someone join me! He ran all around the backyard in his yellow slicker--chasing me around & just enjoying life & the fabulous rain. Needless to say, I looked just as drenched as he did after it was all over. :-) We had a lot of fun that day...<br />
<br />
I'm also happy to say that this was the layout that was printed in the <a href="http://www.thepaperhaus.com/" target="_blank">PaperHaus</a> Spring Issue 2013! I was quite honored & happy to be selected along with other such wonderful talent.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-gFhn33YWw3U/UM5rdr40NRI/AAAAAAAAIZg/jZT5z6xAius/s512/IMG_1385.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-gFhn33YWw3U/UM5rdr40NRI/AAAAAAAAIZg/jZT5z6xAius/s512/IMG_1385.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The SEI papers are from their Vanilla Sunshine collection. It's such a bright and happy collection--I really enjoyed working with it!<br />
<br />
The lovely ruffled light blue flower seen here I bought from an Etsy shop called <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/morepaperthanshoes" target="_blank">More Paper Than Shoes</a>. Anna the owner, has many absolutely gorgeous handmade paper flowers for all sorts of occasions in this shop--she does lovely work.<br />
<br />
The vellum flowers were handmade by me & the light blue organza star flower seen in the bottom right hand corner are flowers from my stash. I have many of these flowers in all different colors currently available in my own Etsy <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/KarlasKreativeKorner" target="_blank">shop</a> if anyone is interested. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7GFSnkF51f0/UM5reFt_Y9I/AAAAAAAAIZw/hxQ3fmwtRsQ/s512/IMG_1387.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7GFSnkF51f0/UM5reFt_Y9I/AAAAAAAAIZw/hxQ3fmwtRsQ/s512/IMG_1387.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I tucked a bit of yellow tulle from underneath my large yellow flower--right next to it is a cute little mushroom bird. <br />
<br />
I feel that adding a bit of tulle to your pages softens it a bit--at least this is the impression tulle gives me.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UQlmTT2zc-o/UM5rdo7C4NI/AAAAAAAAIZc/WbAESIpSHC4/s512/IMG_1386.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UQlmTT2zc-o/UM5rdo7C4NI/AAAAAAAAIZc/WbAESIpSHC4/s512/IMG_1386.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
A combination of Prima & handmade flowers. The buttons seen here are by an Etsy shop called <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/ZeusandZoe" target="_blank">Zeus & Zoe</a>. The owner Marivic has these & many other fabulous items for crafting in her shop!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-pBw-tzcm7eM/UM5reMTPc1I/AAAAAAAAIZ0/bHsrj2ty9w0/s512/IMG_1388.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-pBw-tzcm7eM/UM5reMTPc1I/AAAAAAAAIZ0/bHsrj2ty9w0/s512/IMG_1388.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
This acrylic <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csaefleudlis.htm" target="_blank">Fleur-d-Lis</a> is one of Clear Scraps Clearly Accent Embellishments. I've applied drops of blue & yellow alcohol inks directly onto the acrylic in order to give it a bolder effect. I highlighted the edges with a black Sharpie Oil Based Paint Pen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-pPebOkEjNlE/UM5reQPUOKI/AAAAAAAAIZs/qiC8ecUC7Zw/s512/IMG_1390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-pPebOkEjNlE/UM5reQPUOKI/AAAAAAAAIZs/qiC8ecUC7Zw/s512/IMG_1390.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I've stamped an image by Stampers Anonymous directly onto my acrylic background with jet black Staz On ink. As always, do remember to use solvent ink whenever stamping onto your acrylic. Using any other kind of ink will cause your image to smear.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1VTiRtUrA6w/UM5rexosSWI/AAAAAAAAIaI/YiTDxP6O378/s512/IMG_1392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1VTiRtUrA6w/UM5rexosSWI/AAAAAAAAIaI/YiTDxP6O378/s512/IMG_1392.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I've used two punches by Martha Stewart to create this border--the deep edge Scroll Heart & the Deco Fan. I've inked the edges & dressed up the designs of the punch with dots of Stickles & Liquid Pearls.<br />
<br />
I applied the same technique to the edge of the acrylic XL Dazed Shape in the background--I accentuated the border with a yellow Sharpie Oil Based Paint Pen & dots of blue Liquid Pearls.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9DJahCFRr6Y/UM5rfO5Z_gI/AAAAAAAAIaE/13a7iQ0NJF4/s512/IMG_1395.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9DJahCFRr6Y/UM5rfO5Z_gI/AAAAAAAAIaE/13a7iQ0NJF4/s512/IMG_1395.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
As usual, I've decided to store my journaling in the form of a scroll. I wanted to document exactly how Toby decided to 'dance' with me in the rain that one stormy summer afternoon.<br />
<br />
If interested in how I make these journaling scrolls--you can find a tutorial <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />

As you can see, I sometimes even keep the fortunes from my fortune cookies & use them as embellishments! I was in the process of creating this layout when we decided to get Chinese one lazy afternoon. When I got this fortune I felt it was just right for my layout--I just inked the edges & adhered it.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

So I've heard through the grapevine that Google Reader will be shutting down in July. I've done a bit of research and discovered several other feed readers that you can use to follow your favorite blogs but it seems that Bloglovin is the way to go! <br />
<br />
So I've signed up and here's a link for those of you who'd like to follow me via Bloglovin. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/2755469/?claim=wm4x7yvy4ss">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a></div>
<br />
As always I truly appreciate those that take the time to visit me and I especially enjoy reading your wonderful comments. I wish I had more time in order to visit you all right back--but spending 8 hours or even more daily at the office sadly prohibits me from doing so. However, if it wasn't for that pesky job--I'd have no money to buy scrappy goodies! lol So it all balances out in the end I suppose. When I do find some time in my hands, I make the effort to visit as many blogs as I can.<br />
<br />
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We're finally hitting the 60's here in the North East Coast...so I'm looking forward to a very Springy weekend!<br />

Good afternoon fellow scrappers! It's time for another challenge over at <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">OUAS</a> & as usual Nadia has picked a fabulous theme. April's theme is: The Best Day of Your Life<br />
<br />
This can be any day that is of significance importance to you. Anything from a child's birth, wedding, buying your first home, to getting that much deserved promotion or landing your dream job there really is no right or wrong.<br />
<br />
From my perspective, I've picked the recent birth of my first son. As the title implies, having him come into our lives felt as if our family was finally 'complete'. It's been my husband, my fur pup Toby & myself for 5 years now. Having my son was like finding that missing piece to a puzzle. Our family now feels complete as well as our circle of love.<br />
<br />
The very large 'Love' is one of <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> acrylic expressions. This would be their <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csltlove.htm" target="_blank">Large 'Love' Expressions</a>. I've also used a 6"x6" mascil by Clear Scraps titled <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmquarterfoil6.htm" target="_blank">Quarterfoil</a> to add a bit of texture to my background.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4kIwzLqBzOc/UVkEBKAFnsI/AAAAAAAAJHI/FnuWnk-FBdI/s1600/OUAS_APRIL+2013.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4kIwzLqBzOc/UVkEBKAFnsI/AAAAAAAAJHI/FnuWnk-FBdI/s400/OUAS_APRIL+2013.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's the sketch provided by Nadia that my page is based on. <br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HJnNSKtgWkA/UVkDyu7cciI/AAAAAAAAJG4/GyuYOpU0nDE/s1600/IMG_1981.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HJnNSKtgWkA/UVkDyu7cciI/AAAAAAAAJG4/GyuYOpU0nDE/s400/IMG_1981.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I've cut the acrylic 'Love' in half in order to fit it onto my page. I traced the letters onto patterned paper, cut them out and adhered the paper to my letters. I wanted to accentuate the edges of my letters a bit more--so I went around all the edges with a white gel pen and then added a bit of shimmer by going along the edges with Star Dust Stickles.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fd8A1lUt6Vc/UVkDypnBh3I/AAAAAAAAJG8/GX-FRbaFtco/s1600/IMG_1980.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fd8A1lUt6Vc/UVkDypnBh3I/AAAAAAAAJG8/GX-FRbaFtco/s400/IMG_1980.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The chipboard hearts & banner are by <a href="http://www.imaginariumdesigns.com.au/" target="_blank">Imaginarium Designs</a>. To give the chippies thier texture, I've inked them in embossing ink & heat embossed them with gray embossing powder. I tend to give my chippies a bit of glimmer. So I decided to heat emboss my chippies again but this time with clear Star Dust Embossing Powder by Stampendous. In person, these chippies have a fabulous shimmer!<br />
<br />
The two center hearts shown in this screen shot I inked with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and then added a thick layer of Pewter Distress Stickles.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fEMDQhbfPIU/UVkDx5-rNjI/AAAAAAAAJGo/LAEBaUYHteo/s1600/IMG_1978.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fEMDQhbfPIU/UVkDx5-rNjI/AAAAAAAAJGo/LAEBaUYHteo/s400/IMG_1978.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Aren't these little mushroom birds the cutest? Wherever I find them, I tend to buy a few. I love adding them as little embellies here n' there to my projects.<br />
<br />
The light blue flowers are part of a Prima vine that I cut in half in order to place the flowers on both sides of my photos.<br />
<br />
The pink organza star flower are items from my stash. I have many of these in all colors & have recently decided to add them to my Etsy <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>--so they're up for grabs if interested!<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bnhY5aAsXCg/UVkDx8UVMzI/AAAAAAAAJG0/PVzJDYvKiNQ/s1600/IMG_1977.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bnhY5aAsXCg/UVkDx8UVMzI/AAAAAAAAJG0/PVzJDYvKiNQ/s400/IMG_1977.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
My journaling is stored in the tag shown here. I added a bit of gray tulle to the tag.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-41gp7bQCW_g/UVkDx2eGVII/AAAAAAAAJGk/LOyNCUEWZVI/s1600/IMG_1976.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-41gp7bQCW_g/UVkDx2eGVII/AAAAAAAAJGk/LOyNCUEWZVI/s400/IMG_1976.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
I found these silver foil doilies that really add a nice 'silvery' touch to any projects that have a grayish tone in their color scheme. This is the first time I had the chance to work with these silver foil doilies & I loved the effect they gave my page!<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X2VeYnkVVWg/UVowsO89pQI/AAAAAAAAJHc/KizSUBNmwa0/s1600/IMG_2016.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X2VeYnkVVWg/UVowsO89pQI/AAAAAAAAJHc/KizSUBNmwa0/s400/IMG_2016.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's a close up of the masking made with Clear Scraps <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmquarterfoil6.htm" target="_blank">Quarterfoil</a> mascil. I used Weathered Wood Distress ink & added a dot of Silver Stickles in between each design.<br />
<br />
As always a big thanks to all of you who stop by for a visit. Make sure you all stop by the OUAS blog to check out the other talented DT's take on this challenge. Do play along if you can! There are several fabulous prizes for some lucky winners. Enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcPYymUICbE/UUzSa9D8Y0I/AAAAAAAAJC4/Bxvqi4nwdWk/s1600/Thinking+of+You_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcPYymUICbE/UUzSa9D8Y0I/AAAAAAAAJC4/Bxvqi4nwdWk/s400/Thinking+of+You_WM.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a> Good morning fellow scrappers! Hmmmm, seems like almost a whole month has flown by & I've been a bit quiet. Well, you can blame work for that. I've been a bit swamped since I went back. I've made it a point to keep my sanity by taking the time to scrap here n' there--I just haven't had the chance to post any of it! So, to start myself off here's a DT card I've made for <a href="http://www.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a>. I've used their lovely papers from the 'Remembrance' collection. I've decided to go with a non-traditional card & opted for what is called a 'criss cross' card. </div>
<br />
'Remembrance' is one of Authentique's petite collections full of beautiful papers in shades of deep purple & olive greens with elegant patterns and sentiments of sympathy, thoughtfulness, and good memories. These papers can be used for sympathy cards, to honor memories of loved ones who has since left us or to pay tribute to a dear family member or friend.<br />
<br />
There are several tutorials and how to's on the internet on how you can make your own criss cross card. I simply decided to add to this collection of tutorials with my own version. What I like about the criss cross card is that it's essentially one large pocket that you can embellish as desired with a sentiment that easily slides in & out of the card. It's not a complex card to make if you wish to go with a slightly different sort of card.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5k7JHdZ2MrA/UTP6DWcmXLI/AAAAAAAAJCA/tlxRIOCaOaA/s1600/IMG_1860_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5k7JHdZ2MrA/UTP6DWcmXLI/AAAAAAAAJCA/tlxRIOCaOaA/s400/IMG_1860_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
Here is what the inside sentiment of the card looks like.<br />
<br />
Following are a couple of close ups.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FpvOLEy9jYs/UTP6DYg8-FI/AAAAAAAAJB4/J-xQ_yvzRCw/s1600/IMG_1859_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FpvOLEy9jYs/UTP6DYg8-FI/AAAAAAAAJB4/J-xQ_yvzRCw/s400/IMG_1859_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UJpTP45gwX0/UTP6DNHfH4I/AAAAAAAAJB8/vxCALQaATV0/s1600/IMG_1858_WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UJpTP45gwX0/UTP6DNHfH4I/AAAAAAAAJB8/vxCALQaATV0/s400/IMG_1858_WM.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
Now onto the tutorial...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MtaV63A76zo/UTP3wt1yZ1I/AAAAAAAAJBI/CJYFmzSmo5E/s1600/IMG_1844.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MtaV63A76zo/UTP3wt1yZ1I/AAAAAAAAJBI/CJYFmzSmo5E/s400/IMG_1844.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
Step 1: You'll need 1 piece of solid colored card stock cut in 1/2. A 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" piece of contrasting paper & two 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces of coordinating paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QeCXu0K4I3M/UTP2KfyWRmI/AAAAAAAAI_U/Q-_JuNoaHRU/s1600/IMG_1847_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QeCXu0K4I3M/UTP2KfyWRmI/AAAAAAAAI_U/Q-_JuNoaHRU/s400/IMG_1847_edited-1.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
Step 2: Score the two 12" x 6" pieces of card stock in half. With a trimmer, scissors or craft knife you will then need to cut at a diagonal from one corner of the card stock to the bottom corner of the center fold. TIP: The photo came out a bit too bright to see this, but with a pencil & a ruler I lightly draw a line marking where I intend to cut. This serves as a guide so that I don't cut way off. <br />
<br />
You will repeat this step on the other piece of 12" x 6" card stock. NOTE: when you cut the second piece of card stock make sure you do so on the opposite side so that when you join the two pieces of card stock the two middle sections will overlap to the form the base of your card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KIB9vO00XPA/UTP2KpvFYEI/AAAAAAAAI_k/0BUqs55ARgY/s1600/IMG_1848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KIB9vO00XPA/UTP2KpvFYEI/AAAAAAAAI_k/0BUqs55ARgY/s400/IMG_1848.JPG" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3: When you adhere the two 12"x6" pieces of card stock--this is what they should look like.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FXgoCA6mg04/UTP2LAimCXI/AAAAAAAAI_w/SIhQekndo5Y/s1600/IMG_1850.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FXgoCA6mg04/UTP2LAimCXI/AAAAAAAAI_w/SIhQekndo5Y/s400/IMG_1850.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 4: Cut all of the remaining pieces of paper diagonally as shown. Once again I first drew a line lightly as my guide with a pencil & ruler prior to cutting. I don't know about most of you but I'm very lopsided! I can never just cut away without some kind of guide!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PB804b_smEg/UTP2LTqNFpI/AAAAAAAAJAA/yOpwB2ofyKs/s1600/IMG_1851.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PB804b_smEg/UTP2LTqNFpI/AAAAAAAAJAA/yOpwB2ofyKs/s400/IMG_1851.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 5: Adhere the patterned paper to the contrasting piece of paper. You will have the other halves of the patterned paper left over. Keep these for future projects. NOTE: If you do not wish to have leftovers or if you want your card to have just one design--simply use one piece of 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" patterned paper cut in half diagonally.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zTTAi1YBsWg/UTP2LlAEjhI/AAAAAAAAJAE/enSh7uoFIe0/s1600/IMG_1852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zTTAi1YBsWg/UTP2LlAEjhI/AAAAAAAAJAE/enSh7uoFIe0/s400/IMG_1852.JPG" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 6: Take the two triangles and adhere them to the base of the card as shown. At this point you have your criss cross card pretty much done. All that's left is to glue it closed & decorate it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8Nr_VBYEdaE/UTP2Ln8pcUI/AAAAAAAAJAI/xO68HY2KuRM/s1600/IMG_1853.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8Nr_VBYEdaE/UTP2Ln8pcUI/AAAAAAAAJAI/xO68HY2KuRM/s400/IMG_1853.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 7: With two sided tape (or glue with a fine tip) place one strip on the base of the card at the very bottom to adhere the first flap. Then take a second strip of tape & place it on top of the first flap to adhere the second flap as shown here.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EXTSC79KAuk/UTP3wi2SsCI/AAAAAAAAJBE/j2zNJtuoX9g/s1600/IMG_1854.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EXTSC79KAuk/UTP3wi2SsCI/AAAAAAAAJBE/j2zNJtuoX9g/s400/IMG_1854.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 8: For the inside of the card you'll need 1 piece of patterned or solid colored paper (whichever works best for your project) sized 5 3/4" wide by 5 1/2" high. This next step is optional--to make the tabs with the brads seen on my card simply take a 1" circle punch & punch out 2 circles--fold them in half, pierce a small hole into one half of the circle, attach the brad & finally adhere to the card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YYSuwoTGCG4/UTP2MUqWmZI/AAAAAAAAJAY/5quK-lXn9XM/s1600/IMG_1855.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YYSuwoTGCG4/UTP2MUqWmZI/AAAAAAAAJAY/5quK-lXn9XM/s400/IMG_1855.jpg" usa="true" width="426" /></a>Step 9: Here's your finished card. Now just embellish away!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope this tutorial will inspire some of you to create a criss cross card for you next project. Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week</div>

Good morning fellow scrappers! It's actually my turn to host my very first challenge over at <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a>! This is the first time I host any kind of challenge--so I'm quite excited & a bit nervous...<br />
<br />
After a bit of deliberation, I decided to go with a 'You Color My World' theme. The concept is to create a project based on a person(s) that adds 'color' to your world--that just brightens your day. That one person(s) that just gives your life meaning. It can be more than one person & it can even be a pet! I have my own fur baby--so I'm very much aware of how much joy a pet can bring into someone's life. So pets are included in this theme. The challenge is to use paint in your project. You can use paint in any shape or form...splash it onto your background, use it to color your embellishments such as chipboard or flowers--the possibilities are many, just let your creativity be your guide.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DQxIA4H1Ipk/USJtP5CeqUI/AAAAAAAAI6Q/K0-A_BPVQUQ/s1600/You+Color+My+World.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DQxIA4H1Ipk/USJtP5CeqUI/AAAAAAAAI6Q/K0-A_BPVQUQ/s400/You+Color+My+World.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
I provided this photo collage as inspiration for the challenge. The projects don't necessarily have to have many colors or bright colors--the photos are more for inspiration since they're lively, happy & joyful.<br />
<br />
At first I was going to scrap my newborn son--what can add more happiness & joy to someone's life than their first child right? Then I thought...hmmm, can't leave Toby my fur baby out--he taught me the meaning of unconditional love! Then after more thought I realized that I wouldn't have Toby or my son if it weren't for my husband. So I based the page on him--the beginning of it all & the reason as to why I have the family that I'm part of today.<br />
<br />
I'm a cautious person & take my time to make any life changing decisions. If it weren't for my husband giving me those much needed nudges neither Toby or my newborn son would be here today. How grateful I am today that he gave me those nudges--my two boys complete my world & are my two little rays of sunshine. So this project is dedicated to my husband...with much love!<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DdGGBt5VbqA/UTAI79Ia1SI/AAAAAAAAI-s/sFt1VXpNSrk/s1600/IMG_1825.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DdGGBt5VbqA/UTAI79Ia1SI/AAAAAAAAI-s/sFt1VXpNSrk/s400/IMG_1825.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The title was printed on a transparency, cut out & adhered with clear dry glue. The light orange polka dots were made with a stencil provided by this month's challenge sponsor <a href="http://www.decoart.com/" target="_blank">DecoArt</a>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJKcBDmVyJ0/UTAI7qiT_QI/AAAAAAAAI-k/katxd_cy15E/s1600/IMG_1824.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJKcBDmVyJ0/UTAI7qiT_QI/AAAAAAAAI-k/katxd_cy15E/s400/IMG_1824.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The border seen here was made with a punch by Martha Stewart. The large light brown flower is by Manor House Creations & the mulberry orange & yellow flowers are from I Am Roses & Wild Orchid Crafts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q1hj1j1PgIA/UTAI7n3VroI/AAAAAAAAI-g/AASi8qCrJJQ/s1600/IMG_1823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q1hj1j1PgIA/UTAI7n3VroI/AAAAAAAAI-g/AASi8qCrJJQ/s400/IMG_1823.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
In the upper corner of this screen shot you'll notice my usual scroll which holds my journaling. Here I provided my husband with a heartfelt message. You can find a tutorial on how I make these journaling scrolls <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a> if interested.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XRd7Dc59SHs/UTAI7v9WPJI/AAAAAAAAI-Y/SSeha24DtIU/s1600/IMG_1822.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XRd7Dc59SHs/UTAI7v9WPJI/AAAAAAAAI-Y/SSeha24DtIU/s400/IMG_1822.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
All of the chipboard cogs seen here are by Dusty Attic. To give them texture, they were all first primed with gesso. Once dry, I colored them with blue frosted paint also sponsored by DecoArt. After this layer dried I finished it off by using a bit of <a href="http://www.decoart.com/" target="_blank">DecoArt</a> purple & blue twinkle paint. I especially liked working with the twinkle paint--as you can see, this paint gave my chipboard cogs a nice shimmery & glittery final touch.<br />
<br />
The splatters seen in the background were made with the 'Splats' stamp set by Recollections.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eYz_2rP0vg8/UTAI6Rl4vrI/AAAAAAAAI-E/EBIuBIbT504/s1600/IMG_1821.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eYz_2rP0vg8/UTAI6Rl4vrI/AAAAAAAAI-E/EBIuBIbT504/s400/IMG_1821.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The film strip is by Tim Holtz & all these really cute wooden tags & the wooden window shutter seen underneath the Manor House flower is by a shop found in Zibbet called <a href="http://www.zibbet.com/SaCrafters" target="_blank">SaCrafters</a>. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JVdrhpJbXD8/UTAI6uBxLmI/AAAAAAAAI-M/fqQshwWlUvA/s1600/IMG_1820.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JVdrhpJbXD8/UTAI6uBxLmI/AAAAAAAAI-M/fqQshwWlUvA/s400/IMG_1820.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Love my bright blue cogs! :-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-howZRUMsjQ4/UTAI6rYeMHI/AAAAAAAAI-I/Wjv13mAeAwA/s1600/IMG_1819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-howZRUMsjQ4/UTAI6rYeMHI/AAAAAAAAI-I/Wjv13mAeAwA/s400/IMG_1819.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I included these two paint brushes to be symbolic of having my husband 'color' my world. These were actually the brushes I used to paint my chipboard cogs. I just cleaned them a bit & adhered them to my page.<br />
<br />
Make sure you head on over to the <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a> blog & play along! You have until the end of March to play & this month's sponsor DecoArt has provided us with some of their fabulous products as the prize to the lucky winners! Looking forward to seeing all of your lovely works of art.<br />

Good evening fellow scrappers! Today I bring to you my debut page for <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/" target="_blank">Authentique</a>! I was very much looking forward to working with their wonderful products--Authentique is known for their thick heavy weight paper & I utilized this characteristic to create some very simple handmade embellishments in the form of paper scrolls. Before I go on any further though--just a bit about the theme of this page.<br />
<br />
This would be my newborn son at approximately 1 month & 1/2 of age wearing his very cute lil' blue elf hat. These photos were taken in December of 2012 & I remember that day vividly. He was actually quite the tiny cranky pants that day because we decided to take pictures of him too close to his scheduled dinner time. You can see the poutiness creeping up on his face--needless to say we kept this photo shoot short--but did manage to take a few pics--this being one of them.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QjPEnSJ_-4c/USLOe7ggFcI/AAAAAAAAI8Q/RHJugzSd0Q4/s1600/IMG_1783.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QjPEnSJ_-4c/USLOe7ggFcI/AAAAAAAAI8Q/RHJugzSd0Q4/s400/IMG_1783.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
For this page I've used Authentique's <a href="http://www.authentiquepaper.com/products/Hope" target="_blank">Hope Collection</a>. This collection is geared towards Easter but I wanted to show that these papers can be used for other themes as well. In fact, they work perfectly for masculine/boy themed pages. I chose bold embellishments that would bring out the primary colors of the Hope papers.<br />
<br />
The large silk light yellow flower shown here is from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Funtoolas" target="_blank">Funtoolas</a> Etsy shop. There are many more lovely fabric flowers in this shop along with a few other crafting embellishments in this shop if interested.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6AWqRdGCfcc/USLOeHf-uoI/AAAAAAAAI8E/vMATfzHroUA/s1600/IMG_1784.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6AWqRdGCfcc/USLOeHf-uoI/AAAAAAAAI8E/vMATfzHroUA/s400/IMG_1784.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
I found this quote online & found it to go along nicely with my page. I found it to be so very true & printed the quote directly onto my photo.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2_ju7AHRYwc/USLOev3MJEI/AAAAAAAAI8M/gsJcLpP8BVU/s1600/IMG_1785.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2_ju7AHRYwc/USLOev3MJEI/AAAAAAAAI8M/gsJcLpP8BVU/s400/IMG_1785.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
The banners are cutouts from a Hambly Print overlay...the resin domino pieces are embellies from my stash--if I remember correctly, I found them in the clearance bin at my local Michaels--they're actually considered beads since they have holes in them & you can run string through. Personally, I saw them as really cute embellishments for scrappy projects! <br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1G4c0Jf4iAY/USLOfE95QmI/AAAAAAAAI8Y/fDFBUQJF8tU/s1600/IMG_1786.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1G4c0Jf4iAY/USLOfE95QmI/AAAAAAAAI8Y/fDFBUQJF8tU/s400/IMG_1786.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Sometimes, the best embellishments are the paper themselves & with the simplest of techniques. Authentique's paper has a perfect thick texture to them in order to create sturdy paper scrolls. I've taken several pieces from the Hope collection & have rolled them to create random scrolls onto my page. These little rolls of paper make for an interesting visual embellishment on your layouts & are also a great way to use up leftover scraps. I've spread several of these scrolls throughout my page & have made them in different sizes. When adhering these paper scrolls, try not to adhere them in any particular order--just randomly adhere them & you'll notice that this looks more visually appealing to the eye.</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Take a closer look at the third scroll from the bottom. This scroll also happens to be my journaling. Storing journaling on scrolls has become almost a trademark on my pages. <strong>TIP</strong>: This is a great way to store large journaling or stories without taking too much space on your pages. I typed up my journaling on my computer & printed it onto vellum--then I rolled it up & adhered it to my page with a leftover strip of scrap paper that I use to keep my scroll in place.</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">If interested on how I go about making these scrolls--feel free to check out the tutorial <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a>. </div><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dkCAKxxoElo/USLOfSsAhrI/AAAAAAAAI8g/t5GPxeUi5Ic/s1600/IMG_1787.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dkCAKxxoElo/USLOfSsAhrI/AAAAAAAAI8g/t5GPxeUi5Ic/s400/IMG_1787.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
Isn't this the cutest fuzzy teddy bear embellishment? I bought several of these in different colors. I find them to be the perfect embellishment for baby themed pages!<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a7alQy7s5ac/USLOfrYVghI/AAAAAAAAI8s/u1eXkhontww/s1600/IMG_1788.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a7alQy7s5ac/USLOfrYVghI/AAAAAAAAI8s/u1eXkhontww/s400/IMG_1788.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
These are the my latest butterflies & will be added to my small Etsy shop very soon. To see more butterfly embellishments--feel free to visit my shop <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k5aQ-exudFI/USLOfwc6xbI/AAAAAAAAI80/yoPPDktfzQE/s1600/IMG_1789.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k5aQ-exudFI/USLOfwc6xbI/AAAAAAAAI80/yoPPDktfzQE/s400/IMG_1789.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
More paper scrolls, strategically placed onto the background of my layout.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2PVWmTUMJG0/USLOgjruQdI/AAAAAAAAI88/7VIyUYM4xDo/s1600/IMG_1790.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2PVWmTUMJG0/USLOgjruQdI/AAAAAAAAI88/7VIyUYM4xDo/s400/IMG_1790.jpg" width="426" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The majority of the embellishments used on this page are from Hope's Details & Statements sticker elements. If your scrap approach is anything like mine, you tend to arrange & re-arrange the many embellishments on your page at least 101 times! So being able to freely move sticker elements around without worrying about them sticking to your page adds flexibility during your page design. <strong>TIP</strong>: Something I tend to do with sticker elements is to stick them onto transparencies. This way I can cut them out & then adhere them anywhere onto my page without having to worry about making a mistake as to where I place my stickers. If you wish to eliminate an extra step, Authentique's DT Coordinator, Emily gave me yet another tip. Sprinkle a bit of baby powder to the back of the stickers to remove the stickiness. Either way will work!</span></div></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div>So all of the stickers seen on this page have been adhered to transparencies first, cut out & then adhered with your basic glue or pop dots to my page in order to give them more dimension.<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: inherit;">As always, many thanks for those of you who stop by for a visit. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!</span></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span> <br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hqZu5QlA-28/USJxoLXXOLI/AAAAAAAAI6c/4vL-4Srwg0Y/s1600/No+Ordinary+Love.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hqZu5QlA-28/USJxoLXXOLI/AAAAAAAAI6c/4vL-4Srwg0Y/s400/No+Ordinary+Love.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Hello once again fellow scrappers! Today I'm presenting my interpretation of Anupama's 'White Space' challenge going on over at <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a>. 'White Space' is defined as a portion of a page left unmarked in visual arts. <br />
<br />
I decided to leave two sections of my page as white space--the upper right hand corner & lower left hand corner. <br />
<br />
I've used papers & a few embellishments from Kaisercraft's Forget Me Not collection which coordinated quite well with Marivic's Berry71Bleu tag.<br />
<br />
This would be me with my fur baby Toby. I decided that Toby was due for a page. Even though my first son has arrived to our home --I still see Toby as my eldest 'son'. :-) Yes, I know he's a dog--but to me he's simply a child trapped in a pup's body. He taught me the meaning of unconditional love & he's still a very important member of the family.<br />
<br />
It took Toby about 2 weeks for him to get used to this tiny little human in the house. He's been an only child for five years & had never seen a baby. So it was a big adjustment for him. After 3 1/2 months, Toby has pretty much adopted his less furry younger brother & protects him as if he were his own.<br />
<br />
What I have with Toby is 'No Ordinary Love'--hence the title. It's the kind of unique love that can only be shared between man & his best friend or in this case, between a girl & her little fur baby.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SDk3Kt7Q2rw/USJyP8O047I/AAAAAAAAI68/QtgvvX9jh0E/s1600/IMG_1800.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SDk3Kt7Q2rw/USJyP8O047I/AAAAAAAAI68/QtgvvX9jh0E/s400/IMG_1800.JPG" width="420" /></a></div>
<br />
I did much layering on this layout with foam dots & pop dots in between several of the layers in order to give my page a bit of dimension.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JISRWV9jGxg/USJyPwOudhI/AAAAAAAAI7A/sshWz7kTfLE/s1600/IMG_1798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JISRWV9jGxg/USJyPwOudhI/AAAAAAAAI7A/sshWz7kTfLE/s400/IMG_1798.JPG" width="420" /></a></div>
<br />
Of what has become a sort of tradition with my pages--here's my journaling stored in the form of a scroll. As mentioned in previous posts--I love attaching lengthy journaling and/or story telling to my pages. I used to always store them behind my pages because since they were so long--they would take up a lot of room on my layout. However, ever since I started storing my journaling in the form of a scroll--it's become almost a habit of mine & a trademark on my pages. Plus they also make for a really cute & unique type of embellishment! <br />
<br />
If interested on how I go about making these scrolls--feel free to read up on a tutorial I made for them <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2012/05/scroll-journaling-tutorial.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eVFRpxCpg-0/USJx14Nd9qI/AAAAAAAAI60/QLK_4pvTTXQ/s1600/IMG_1797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eVFRpxCpg-0/USJx14Nd9qI/AAAAAAAAI60/QLK_4pvTTXQ/s400/IMG_1797.JPG" width="420" /></a></div>
<br />
I love this photo that my husband took of me & Toby. As usual, he looks as if he's smiling at the camera! Right next to my photo is a mini glass vial that I filled with seed beads from my stash.<br />

This is my latest fave die! I love, love, love this hot air balloon die by <a href="http://www.lalalandcrafts.com/" target="_blank">La-La Land Crafts</a>! Isn't it so very cute! It adds a brilliant touch to my layouts. <br />

Finally, here's a closeup of Marivic's Berry71Bleu tag. These tags are like instant embellishments. You don't have to dig around your stash for too many embellishments if you have one of these tags handy. Just adhere them to your page & you're pretty much done! You can find more of Marivic's tags in her Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/berry71bleu" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />

Hello once again fellow scrappers! Happy belated Valentine's Day to you all. I hope many of you gave & received much TLC to all your loved ones yesterday & every day! Why just keep it to just one day right? Spread the love daily is what I say! :-) On that note--this page is a bit on the romantic side.<br />
<br />
This would be me & my husband on our wedding day. I titled this layout 'Your Everything' which is the song that was playing when this photo was taken. My husband requested the DJ to play this song by Keith Urban & then proceeded to dance & sing it to me. It came as a bit of a surprise since I didn't know he was going to ask for this special request. This would be my husband at his best! :-)<br />
<br />
This page was made with two products that are part of <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> newest releases--the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/Acryic_border_p/csabdrhearts.htm" target="_blank">Hearts Acrylic Border</a> & the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmchick6.htm" target="_blank">6" Chicken Wire</a> mascil.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UeSUcB8FcS4/UR5muJR6s9I/AAAAAAAAI1Y/LtBgrvEATk0/s1600/IMG_1472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UeSUcB8FcS4/UR5muJR6s9I/AAAAAAAAI1Y/LtBgrvEATk0/s400/IMG_1472.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
This large sheer organza ribbon is actually two bows that I hot glued together in the form of a cross. So it looks fancier than what it really is.<br />
<br />
Underneath it is a Prima vine that I tore apart & adhered strategically underneath it.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pVhyo2PrH70/UR8B9TpUO8I/AAAAAAAAI3M/1PSfGGCGPkQ/s512/IMG_1474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pVhyo2PrH70/UR8B9TpUO8I/AAAAAAAAI3M/1PSfGGCGPkQ/s512/IMG_1474.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
All papers & the stamped images are by My Mind's Eye (Follow Your Heart - Be Happy Collection). Here you can see the large floral stamped image and the honeycomb image that I randomly stamped in the bottom right hand corner.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1MYulT6bUL4/UR5mu3SmT7I/AAAAAAAAI10/ju_Taa_N00k/s1600/IMG_1477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1MYulT6bUL4/UR5mu3SmT7I/AAAAAAAAI10/ju_Taa_N00k/s400/IMG_1477.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's a closeup of the Chicken Wire mascil. I placed the mascil in the corners of my page & spritzed Graphite Glimmer Mist & just a hint of My Bleeding Heart Coloringz by Shimmerz over it. Next I removed my mask & LISTO! Instant decorative & shimmery background!<br />
<br />
The large leaf flourish die is the <a href="http://www.cheerylynndesigns.com/mega-fanciful-flourish/" target="_blank">Mega Fanciful Flourish</a> by Cheery Lynn Designs. I further decorated the flourish die by adding dots of acrylic paint to the ends of the swirls.<br />
<br />
You can also see in this close up that I randomly added dots of Diamond Stickles to my background. Adding dots of light colored shimmer adds a nice touch to your background.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGTJbBOdSbA/UR5mu_EPonI/AAAAAAAAI1w/dpVQfgi3wvs/s1600/IMG_1476.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGTJbBOdSbA/UR5mu_EPonI/AAAAAAAAI1w/dpVQfgi3wvs/s400/IMG_1476.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
Here's a closeup of the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/Acryic_border_p/csabdrhearts.htm" target="_blank">Hearts Acrylic Border</a>. To give this border it's texture--I first highlighted the edges with a black Sharpie Oil Based Paint Pen--then I colored the border with Red Pepper & Silver alcohol inks. Finally I stamped the word 'love.' with black Staz On ink to the hearts. <b>TIP</b>: Always remember to use solvent inks & permanent markers with acrylic. Using any other kind of inks or markers will cause your work to smear.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZUdyfYSOIdo/UR5muJgN_JI/AAAAAAAAI1g/oj_mOcK35DE/s1600/IMG_1475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZUdyfYSOIdo/UR5muJgN_JI/AAAAAAAAI1g/oj_mOcK35DE/s400/IMG_1475.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
The paper heart border was made with Martha Stewart's Lattice Heart deep edge punch. I accentuated the design with dots of pink acrylic paint.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VHaai0aVe84/UR5moXePhHI/AAAAAAAAI1I/oRvURDhnnTI/s1600/IMG_1471.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VHaai0aVe84/UR5moXePhHI/AAAAAAAAI1I/oRvURDhnnTI/s400/IMG_1471.JPG" width="426" /></a><br />
These butterflies are a fairly new addition to my Etsy <a href="http://karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>. They are called 'Angelus' & like all the butterflies in my shop come in sets of 3. Although they can be made in any size! If interested in these or any other kind of butterflies--feel free to visit my <a href="http://karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>.<br />
<br />
A big thanks to all of you who stopped by for a visit. An even bigger thanks for those of you who leave a comment. I always appreciate the gesture!<br />
<br />
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's--enjoy the rest of the weekend!<br />

Today is a day dedicated to love . . . not just the love for that special someone in your life but all kinds of love. Love for your family, friends, pets & yes even the love you have for where you live! Here at Berry71Bleu we decided to share a bit about ourselves consisting primarily of where we each live & why we love to call it 'home'.This should be interesting since we have ladies from the USA, Poland, India and Puerto Rico.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
So let's begin...I live in Northern New Jersey just 20 minutes away from New York City--the city that never sleeps! Having this amazing city so very close by but not being right in the center of it is just one of the main reasons that makes New Jersey my kind of place to live! We also have a good number of near by beaches towards the South of Jersey. Many of them were hit hard by hurricane Sandy--but they have since been re-building & it looks like the Jersey Shore will end up better than ever. For those that like to gamble there's Atlantic City about 3 hours away or if you want just a simple quiet getaway there's Cape May at the very bottom of New Jersey filled with historic bed & breakfasts & Victorian architecture. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
For this post I will concentrate on New York--my absolute favorite place & what I love the most!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cL_QO2oiFBY/URmqJUiegRI/AAAAAAAAIzA/Xg9Jv9cELYU/s512/NY2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cL_QO2oiFBY/URmqJUiegRI/AAAAAAAAIzA/Xg9Jv9cELYU/s512/NY2.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The views! I have to say that New York has some amazing views--both within the city and from afar. This photo was taken from the top of the Empire State Building. That would be the Chrysler Building & just a few of the many, many skyscrapers & buildings that make up NYC.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_WyNWbdPSOA/URmqJuZiKdI/AAAAAAAAIzE/vkohiuPFf14/s512/NY1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_WyNWbdPSOA/URmqJuZiKdI/AAAAAAAAIzE/vkohiuPFf14/s512/NY1.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
It almost looks like a puzzle doesn't it? Or a miniature toy city where you can move the skyscrapers around with your hands! Yep, that's how tiny the buildings look from the top of the Empire. I've been to the Empire at all times of the day--morning, late afternoon & of course at night. At all times of the day, the views are magnificent. I can sit at the top of the Empire for hours & hours...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-sU3GIv49xGE/URmqK350fSI/AAAAAAAAIzg/hieOW0EVztQ/s512/NY4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-sU3GIv49xGE/URmqK350fSI/AAAAAAAAIzg/hieOW0EVztQ/s512/NY4.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
One of my absolute fave times of years to visit New York is Christmas...oh I love it! Here is Rockefeller Center with the infamous Rockefeller Tree in the background. As you can see, lights are everywhere at this time of the year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-4oV5OXYS5Mc/URmqKSJtHTI/AAAAAAAAIzQ/ClwSe5sYsks/s512/NY3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-4oV5OXYS5Mc/URmqKSJtHTI/AAAAAAAAIzQ/ClwSe5sYsks/s512/NY3.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
My view from New Jersey. This is one of the most famous spots from NJ to see this wonderful city from the outside. This view is constantly visited and is even more spectacular at night. This is of course the Empire & I even caught one of the many ferries that travel between NY & NJ in this photo. Just another way to get into the city besides a bus or train.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qWmBjAxCWv4/URmqK1bgxGI/AAAAAAAAIzc/OfXmxa9TBb8/s512/NY5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qWmBjAxCWv4/URmqK1bgxGI/AAAAAAAAIzc/OfXmxa9TBb8/s512/NY5.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Radio City Music Hall during Christmas. If you're just not feeling the holiday spirit--hop on the nearest train & head into the city. New York will put you into the Christmas spirit in no time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N8U4ebXBg_Q/URmqLIfzihI/AAAAAAAAIzo/abGPikufJ30/s512/NY6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N8U4ebXBg_Q/URmqLIfzihI/AAAAAAAAIzo/abGPikufJ30/s512/NY6.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Times Square at it's finest! I took this from the 5th floor of an IMAX movie theater when I went to see the final Harry Potter movie. (Yes folks--I'm a total Potterhead!) Times Square is always hustling & bustling with so many things happening at the same time. Sometimes I just like to stand in the very middle and just take it all in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pCZDChsSi4Y/URmqMC2NKiI/AAAAAAAAI0A/Guxdw4m-IUM/s512/NY9.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pCZDChsSi4Y/URmqMC2NKiI/AAAAAAAAI0A/Guxdw4m-IUM/s512/NY9.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
People, people, people & yes, more people. Times Square can get very, very packed. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6ARijoQ142k/URmqLWW0LCI/AAAAAAAAIzw/T9DlmrU2ZdM/s512/NY7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6ARijoQ142k/URmqLWW0LCI/AAAAAAAAIzw/T9DlmrU2ZdM/s512/NY7.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
This post wouldn't be complete without Lady Liberty. She's magnificent & means so very much to us. I've had the privilege to climb all the way up to her crown. Some 300+ steps via a very cramped spiral staircase--but worth every step.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jLF082yHtxY/URmqJUWELjI/AAAAAAAAIzI/hkfTsb8c6Bw/s512/NY10.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jLF082yHtxY/URmqJUWELjI/AAAAAAAAIzI/hkfTsb8c6Bw/s512/NY10.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Of course Times Square isn't complete without it's many Broadway shows. Here's the Lion King theater. We went in April of 2010 & thoroughly enjoyed it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O9SsIT062ZU/URmqLXLBimI/AAAAAAAAIz0/Jscf7n4J2Mw/s512/NY8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O9SsIT062ZU/URmqLXLBimI/AAAAAAAAIz0/Jscf7n4J2Mw/s512/NY8.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
My husband! LOL...this is what he usually looks like when I drag him into NYC. Unlike me, he's a country boy & prefers quiet farms & lots of trees instead of this concrete jungle. <br />
<br />
He tends to look like a tourist when he goes into NY...a bit lost & amazed--the back pack doesn't help! :-) <br />
<br />
Let's hear it for the city that never sleeps! I enjoyed sharing a little bit of what I call 'my infamous backyard' & to show my favorite thing about living in New Jersey.<br />
<br />
Now for the prizes & the rules...<br />

Good evening fellow scrappers! Phew...it's been a bit busy this week since it's my first week back to work from maternity leave. I've been doing much catching up at work & much adjusting. What does this equal? A very tired me! However, I've finally found the time to post this announcement on my blog.<br />
<br />
I've been asked to join the Authentique Design Team! I was very happy, honored & grateful when asked to join--I still have a bit of hard time believing this really happened since it was during the busy holiday season. It was unexpected--but very well received! <br />
<br />
The announcement was posted this past Monday--I was introduced along with three other new talented design team members on the Authentique blog. You can read the full post <a href="http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2013/02/were-rolling-out-welcome-wagon.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <br />
<br />
I have to say I'm very much looking forward to this new journey--let the creativity begin!<br />

Greetings fellow scrappers! It's time for another challenge over at <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Once Upon A...Sketch</a> (OUAS)! This month's challenge is 'love' & how appropriate since February is known for Valentine's Day & love of all kinds in many parts of the world.<br />
<br />
As mentioned in the <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">OUAS</a> blog--love comes in many forms. Love for your children, love for your parents, love for your significant other, the love shared between good friends...even the love you have for your pets!<br />
<br />
Since I recently became a mom--I based my page on the love shared between a mother & her children. I can finally say I truly understand my own mother & her never ending concern for me. I'm 35 years old & she still worries about me when I go out late at night or when I'm late coming home from work. I never understood exactly 'why' since I'm no longer a child myself. However, with the birth of my son--it all just 'clicked'. He's barely 3 months old but the need to protect him from harm, the fear that something may happen to him, the love I have for him has no age limits. I truly do not see myself feeling any less worried for him even when he's 30 years old. The love a parent has for their children truly is something quite strong, unbreakable & with no limits. <br />
<br />
So here's my take on the challenge & on Nadia's fabulous sketch!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5Op6wkmsGGY/UQrSg7bYxDI/AAAAAAAAIvA/_UCXJM_ZegU/s512/OUAS_FEB%25202013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5Op6wkmsGGY/UQrSg7bYxDI/AAAAAAAAIvA/_UCXJM_ZegU/s512/OUAS_FEB%25202013.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
Here's Nadia's sketch & what I based my design on. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8MRvlohefiw/UQrR77dPDzI/AAAAAAAAIuQ/imnp5MWAd6s/s512/IMG_1725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8MRvlohefiw/UQrR77dPDzI/AAAAAAAAIuQ/imnp5MWAd6s/s512/IMG_1725.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I stored my journaling in the tag seen inside the kraft envelope. My journaling is meant for my son's eyes only. I hope he'll enjoy reading all of these little messages I have for him within my pages! I've been making many of these lately...<br />
<br />
I stamped several images by Prima onto transparencies with Staz On--cut them out and adhered them throughout my page. In this screen shot you see a butterfly & gazebo. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-bkZ0HsdNN3g/UQrR7pwFHzI/AAAAAAAAIuI/hVjpqJr-mDs/s512/IMG_1729.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-bkZ0HsdNN3g/UQrR7pwFHzI/AAAAAAAAIuI/hVjpqJr-mDs/s512/IMG_1729.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I love these mini spools! They really add just the right little touch to these pages. I wrapped a bit of thread around them & linked the two spools with the same thread.<br />
<br />
I used a deep edge punch by Martha Stewart called "Wild Flowers" for the border seen in the background. I further decorated the images of the punched border with glittered brads, Lavender Stickles & acrylic paint dots.<br />
<br />
The base for my entire page is actually a <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cs12page.htm" target="_blank">12" x 12" Acrylic Sheet</a> by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. The corrugated board seen in this screen shot is behind the acrylic base. This card board can be removed & the page takes on a completely different look.<br />
<br />
I also did a bit of hand stitching along the top & bottom borders.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LiwXicCBtmc/UQrR7-7ygPI/AAAAAAAAIuM/vTkfNKL_HAA/s512/IMG_1726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LiwXicCBtmc/UQrR7-7ygPI/AAAAAAAAIuM/vTkfNKL_HAA/s512/IMG_1726.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The flowers are a combination of mulberry paper flowers & fabric flowers. The fabric flowers I found at my local craft store in the clearance bin for $1.00. What a great bargain & the color scheme was perfect for this page!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ldfzegTZZEE/UQrR8LOlEqI/AAAAAAAAIuc/ztG4Og5hKAA/s512/IMG_1730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ldfzegTZZEE/UQrR8LOlEqI/AAAAAAAAIuc/ztG4Og5hKAA/s512/IMG_1730.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The large acrylic heart is also by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. This would be the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csxlhrt.htm" target="_blank">XL Hearts</a>.<br />
<br />
I punched a couple of holes into the bottom of the acrylic heart with my crop-a-dile & thread a bit of yellow & purple tulle through these holes. The tulle peeks out from underneath the bird's nest.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6rx5Rf2MmqQ/UQrR8S_HI-I/AAAAAAAAIug/sF5_2E81wYg/s512/IMG_1731.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6rx5Rf2MmqQ/UQrR8S_HI-I/AAAAAAAAIug/sF5_2E81wYg/s512/IMG_1731.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The border of the acrylic heart was colored with alcohol inks. I used a combination of Purple Twilight & Sunshine Yellow alcohol inks. I then spread a bit of clear dry adhesive with a thin paint brush all along the edge of the heart & sprinkled some Diamond Dust on it. This was the end result. I was going to leave the heart without the Diamond Dust--but I wanted the heart to stand out just a bit more without being too over bearing--so I decided to go with the Diamond Dust.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ApEfk7I-ug4/UQrR8RyKADI/AAAAAAAAIuo/FfMnvYuj1-8/s512/IMG_1734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ApEfk7I-ug4/UQrR8RyKADI/AAAAAAAAIuo/FfMnvYuj1-8/s512/IMG_1734.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
All of the ribbon used on this page was kindly sponsored by <a href="http://www.scrapbookfantasies.com.au/products/index.php" target="_blank">Scrapbook Fantasies</a>. <br />
<br />
In this screen shot, I adhered one dark purple ribbon on top of a wider sheer lilac ribbon. I then adhered it to my page with a bit of a 'ruffle' to it to give it more dimension.<br />
<br />
The title is by Dusty Attic. I simply painted the chippie with purple metallic acrylic paint. In person, this title has a bit of a shimmer to it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-9eyowjJvNyo/UQrR8o9xZlI/AAAAAAAAIuw/I9Fd8tvtXkk/s512/IMG_1735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-9eyowjJvNyo/UQrR8o9xZlI/AAAAAAAAIuw/I9Fd8tvtXkk/s512/IMG_1735.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I found this quote online & found it to be perfect for my page.<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><i>"A mother holds her child's hand for just a short time. But holds their hearts forever..."</i></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: magenta;"><i><br /></i></span>
I printed the quote onto a transparency, cut it out & adhered it to my page with a bit of clear dry adhesive.<br />
<br />
As always, a big thank you to those who stop by for a visit. Your visit & comments are always very much appreciated. <br />
<br />
Make sure you stop by the <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">OUAS</a> blog and check out the other DT's take on this challenge--& do play along if you have the time!<br />
<br />
Have a great rest of the week.<br />

Hello again fellow scrappers! Today I bring you my very first DT page for <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a>.<br />
<br />
The Berry71Bleu challenge for January is to scrap yourself--the owner of Berry71Bleu--Marivic--described the challenge as scrapping the 'queen' within us. Scrapping ourselves can be a bit intimidating for many scrappers--I've done several challenges in the past where the subject was ourselves & I'm constantly hearing how this seems to be a tough one for us. As scrappers, we will consistently document those around us--but we will hardly ever take the time to scrap ourselves. <br />
<br />
However, I'm one of those few that actually very much enjoys scrapping myself. I feel that the most wonderful gift, memory & legacy that we can leave our loved ones behind or pass onto them is ourselves. Who we are, what we represent. Our likes & dislikes, our guilty pleasures. What makes us happy--what makes us sad. What are our beliefs? What mottos do we live by? What defines us? <br />
<br />
This layout is me on paper. I carefully hand picked embellishments that represent me in some shape or form. The papers I used which is the "Frosted" collection by <a href="http://13arts.pl/" target="_blank">13 Arts</a> & who are also sponsoring the winner for this challenge--worked perfectly with my approach. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-77oiLXgTvyI/UPtU73BA_aI/AAAAAAAAIq8/Wv9vdflaAIY/s512/IMG_1555.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-77oiLXgTvyI/UPtU73BA_aI/AAAAAAAAIq8/Wv9vdflaAIY/s512/IMG_1555.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
My background was made with the use of one of <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a> newest releases called Mascils. It's a mask & stencil all in one. For this layout, I've used the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/cssmnumber12.htm" target="_blank">12" Numbers Mascil</a>. All I did was place the mascil against my paper & spritzed a bit of Granite Glimmer Mist & voila! Instant shimmery background...<br />
<br />
I randomly placed words onto my page that define me. Here you'll see 'imagine' & 'spirit'. <br />
<br />
I love butterflies & therefore included them on my page. Those who know a little about me are aware that butterflies are my fave of embellishments. They represent change--the start of something new. They are also so very beautiful & graceful.<br />
<br />
The cameo seen here was included because I consider myself an 'old soul'. I enjoy classic black & white movies...give me a good Humphrey Bogart or Bette Davis movie & I'm good. When it comes to music--my passion is jazz & swing...we're talking Glenn Miller, Billie Holiday, Etta James etc...sure I enjoy music from today as well--but late at night while scrapping, nothing puts me more at ease than listening to Billie Holiday sing about her latest heart break...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-VQBXTwd8JBU/UPtU7E4xIyI/AAAAAAAAIqs/_LbyrRv_0_g/s512/IMG_1553.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-VQBXTwd8JBU/UPtU7E4xIyI/AAAAAAAAIqs/_LbyrRv_0_g/s512/IMG_1553.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The light bulb speaks for itself. 'CREATE'! Create indeed!! How I love to create...anything involving art is so very much me! Not only do I love to create myself--but I also enjoy seeing works of art by others. Once in a while I'll hop on a train & take a ride into NYC simply because I want to spend the day strolling through the Metropolitan museum. To me, that's a great way to spend the day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4hfIExu5-QE/UPtU7ac6klI/AAAAAAAAIqw/62gTJLzfL1k/s512/IMG_1554.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4hfIExu5-QE/UPtU7ac6klI/AAAAAAAAIqw/62gTJLzfL1k/s512/IMG_1554.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
This tag is just one of many by Berry71Bleu. They are made with much TLC by Marivic herself. She made this one with the concept of the 'queen' within us all. As little girls we are all princesses right? Well those princesses grow up to be queens! As women we are someone's daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mom or grandmother. We are unique in our own way & touch the lives of those around us simply by being us. <br />
<br />
You can find more of Marivic's lovely tags in her Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/berry71bleu" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LfrUvMjkW0U/UPtU7JacbyI/AAAAAAAAIqo/eGuxaI0FI5g/s512/IMG_1552.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LfrUvMjkW0U/UPtU7JacbyI/AAAAAAAAIqo/eGuxaI0FI5g/s512/IMG_1552.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Flowers! What woman doesn't love flowers eh? Well, I'm no exception...I love them & include them in just about all my work. I also love the real thing & have a garden full of different flowers that I enjoy tending to--not to mention all the plants that I have inside my home--my home is my little jungle full of plants! :-)<br />
<br />
These bold flowers are actually stamps. These are the 'Organic Fabric Flourish' stamps by Inkadinkado. I stamped the images onto a transparency with black Staz On--cut the images out & then adhered them onto my page with clear dry adhesive. Stamping images onto a transparency ensures that you can place your images anywhere on your page. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0MFXrM4WhyU/UPtU6jjIzwI/AAAAAAAAIqY/qgzcSuwbQG8/s512/IMG_1551.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0MFXrM4WhyU/UPtU6jjIzwI/AAAAAAAAIqY/qgzcSuwbQG8/s512/IMG_1551.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Birds is another pleasure of mine. But I especially love & admire the wise owl. Therefore, I have him perched right next to me.<br />
<br />
The pen nib is there because I love to write. I started writing short stories when I was in high school simply because I just felt like writing! I got ideas in my head & put them to paper. I still tend to write now-a-days although not as much as I'd like since I hardly ever find the time. But I do enjoy it...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GqG64MWIgds/UPtU6tOgUZI/AAAAAAAAIqU/jNcJGSQKmWk/s512/IMG_1550.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GqG64MWIgds/UPtU6tOgUZI/AAAAAAAAIqU/jNcJGSQKmWk/s512/IMG_1550.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-C3qMvU8YZbk/UPtU6ll7qdI/AAAAAAAAIqc/j4_UjW98n-Q/s512/IMG_1548.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-C3qMvU8YZbk/UPtU6ll7qdI/AAAAAAAAIqc/j4_UjW98n-Q/s512/IMG_1548.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
This tag that is part of the 13 Arts "Frosted" collection begged to be included on this page. It's exactly what I believe in. Life is indeed so very beautiful--look around, take it in--live, love & just be happy!<br />
<br />
I included the 'smile' because those that are close to me know that I'm just a big goofy clown that consistently loves to laugh & is always looking to make others laugh as well. Laughter is the cure for many things...hey--according to some doctors, laughing even helps you lose weight! lol I think we burn about 3 calories with every good hearty laugh. So laugh it up guys!!<br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting! Do take the time to stop by the <a href="http://berry71bleu.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Berry71Bleu</a> blog & participate in this month's challenge. Hello fellow scrappers! With Valentines Day just around the corner (can you believe it?) I'm digging out my wedding photos and/or re-doing wedding pages that I've done in the past & just wasn't 100% happy with. This one is actually a re-do. <br />
<br />
The current challenge going on over at <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/" target="_blank">Colors...Stories...Inspiration</a> (C.S.I) triggered this re-do. I found the color palette to be just right for this page. <br />
<br />
So here is me & my hubby over 5 years ago on our wedding day. Yes, it's been 5 years already! I know for those of you who have been married 10, 15 or 20+ years 5 is probably not such a biggie. However, I'm more surprised not by the number but by how fast these 5 years have flown by! It just feels like yesterday that we were exchanging vows & here we are going on our 6th year together. I'm sure pretty soon I'll be talking about our 10th anniversary--sigh...tick tock tick tock...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q7dO1YGpD4A/UPbqcBzAq-I/AAAAAAAAIoY/JnUTczaMEYY/s512/CSI54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q7dO1YGpD4A/UPbqcBzAq-I/AAAAAAAAIoY/JnUTczaMEYY/s512/CSI54.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
Here's the <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/" target="_blank">C.S.I</a> challenge I based my page on.<br />
<br />
For my evidence I have: tickets, swirls & music pattern<br />
<br />
For my testimony I've used the song title & lyrics from a song<br />
<br />
I've also based my design on the provided sketch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eMIo3N1sOgg/UPbqLbMdh4I/AAAAAAAAIn8/l3Dnht1MruU/s512/IMG_1652.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eMIo3N1sOgg/UPbqLbMdh4I/AAAAAAAAIn8/l3Dnht1MruU/s512/IMG_1652.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The '<a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csstlove.htm" target="_blank">Love</a>' part of the title is an Acrylic Expression by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. I kept the texture of the title simple. All I did was highlight the edges of the letters with a red Sharpie Oil based Paint pen. This gave my title the simple & perfect effect I wanted.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Etj3Ti0iw9A/UPbqLu0zA0I/AAAAAAAAIn4/Q7R494xaPjI/s512/IMG_1653.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Etj3Ti0iw9A/UPbqLu0zA0I/AAAAAAAAIn4/Q7R494xaPjI/s512/IMG_1653.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The Love tickets are by Tim Holtz. The lyrics are from Harry Connick Jr.'s song "Recipe For Making Love"--which is also the title for my layout. <br />
<br />
We also played this song at our wedding: <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #a64d79;">A little bit of me & a whole lot of you. Add a dash of starlight & a dozen roses too. Then let it rise for a hundred years or two. And that's the recipe for making love.</span></i><br />
<br />
We found this to be a very cute song to be part of our wedding--it also helps that I'm a huge jazz fan! :-)<br />
<br />
The light blue pearl string I've had in my stash for ages. In fact I have various pearl strings in my stash that I really need to use up. So you'll be seeing these trims on several of my projects.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-kpd4bytL9uo/UPbqKsP9BqI/AAAAAAAAInw/DRpcCFxpAz8/s512/IMG_1649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-kpd4bytL9uo/UPbqKsP9BqI/AAAAAAAAInw/DRpcCFxpAz8/s512/IMG_1649.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The little glass vial is filled with tiny little red hearts that I had in my stash. I knew those little hearts would come in handy one day!<br />
<br />
The large handmade flower I bought from an Etsy store called <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/morepaperthanshoes" target="_blank">More Paper Than Shoes</a>. Anna the owner, creates various handmade flowers that add a perfect touch to layouts, projects & even weddings!<br />
<br />
The little paper rolls are just scraps of left over patterned paper from other projects that I've rolled up & glued to my page. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8ulEL3mApzg/UPbqKlL0jbI/AAAAAAAAIns/yCDrx-Wk_ek/s512/IMG_1648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8ulEL3mApzg/UPbqKlL0jbI/AAAAAAAAIns/yCDrx-Wk_ek/s512/IMG_1648.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The floral frame that surrounds my photos is actually a stamp. It's the large cameo frame stamp by Stampendous. The stamp itself is much smaller than what you see here--however you can make any stamp to be any size for your needs with the use of a scanner. So if you have a scanner at home--just do the following.<br />
<br />
<b>TIP</b>: If you have a stamp that you wish to use on your project but it's too small or too big--stamp the image with black ink onto a sheet of plain white card stock. I use Staz On for this step because Staz On tends to provide a very sharp stamped image. Scan your image & import the image to your computer. Then with a photo/image editing tool like Photoshop or even Picasa resize your image to the size you need. Then just print the image out & you're done! For my page, I needed the frame to be transparent. So I printed it onto a printable transparency sheet--cut the image out & then adhered it to my page. Voila! Instant frame!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_Hqylp0BLEM/UPbqKvhl33I/AAAAAAAAIno/MM7u96RK91U/s512/IMG_1646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_Hqylp0BLEM/UPbqKvhl33I/AAAAAAAAIno/MM7u96RK91U/s512/IMG_1646.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The wedding couple I cut out from my original page. If interested you can see my original take on this page <a href="http://kayskreativekorner.blogspot.com/2010/02/lovelayout.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I decided to keep this image from my original page & use it here. You can also see how much my scrapping style has evolved through the years.<br />
<br />
I've created the veil for the bride by adhering a bit of black tulle to a decorative brad & then attaching it to her head. <br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

Hello once again fellow scrappers! Today I bring you a page I made with a couple of new releases by <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/" target="_blank">Clear Scraps</a>. I kept the design of this page fairly simple by utilizing white space & letting the elements of the page shine through.<br />
<br />
This would be my newborn son when he was about 2 days old. It's amazing how they change from when they're first born. He's currently a little over 2 months & I can't say he looks the same as in this picture.<br />
<br />
The theme of my page is 'My Promise' to him as his mom. My journaling consists of items that I pledge to provide as his mom throughout his life time & as one of the main influential persons in his life. The journaling is meant for his eyes only. Once he's old enough to comprehend I'll let him read it. Maybe by then he'll also let me know if I'm keeping some of my promises or not! :-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-16dRk0e24eQ/UPbqp7SjsgI/AAAAAAAAIog/LRriB-qRNV0/s512/IMG_1442.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-16dRk0e24eQ/UPbqp7SjsgI/AAAAAAAAIog/LRriB-qRNV0/s512/IMG_1442.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Here is a sample of one of Clear Scraps brand new releases--Acrylic Borders. I used the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/Acryic_border_p/csabdrsquare.htm" target="_blank">Square Acrylic Border</a> on this page.<br />
<br />
To give the border it's texture, I first highlighted the edges of a couple of the squares with a black Sharpie. I then painted the border with orange & yellow alcohol inks. Finally, I dressed up the squares by adding dots of Bisque Liquid Pearls on the corners of each square. A couple of mosaic pieces (some by Prima some from my own stash) were adhered to a few of the square boxes. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1_aBLMl6Ph8/UPbqqM48lqI/AAAAAAAAIoo/SmUyf140Xig/s512/IMG_1444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1_aBLMl6Ph8/UPbqqM48lqI/AAAAAAAAIoo/SmUyf140Xig/s512/IMG_1444.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
This lovely large flower is by <a href="http://manorhousecreationsblog.com/" target="_blank">Manor House Creations</a>. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kjsMkbT6J6g/UPbqqAnZjlI/AAAAAAAAIok/kllWT05T_iA/s512/IMG_1443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kjsMkbT6J6g/UPbqqAnZjlI/AAAAAAAAIok/kllWT05T_iA/s512/IMG_1443.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I'm loving these very cute velvet teddy bears that I found at my local craft store A.C. Moore. They're perfect for baby/children themed pages!<br />
<br />
For my background I sprayed a couple of quick bursts of RipTide glimmer mist & randomly added dots of Star Dust Stickles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CcR-iNFPdeU/UPbqqgAVk9I/AAAAAAAAIos/AnZJVAydrU0/s512/IMG_1445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CcR-iNFPdeU/UPbqqgAVk9I/AAAAAAAAIos/AnZJVAydrU0/s512/IMG_1445.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
This square frame is also part of a new release by Clear Scraps--the 'Clearly Framed' collection. I've used the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/product_p/csafrsrecrec.htm" target="_blank">Small Rectangle Frame</a> which I've covered with patterned paper, inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink & dressed up the corners with a couple of Black Diamond Stickles dots. A small corner from a paper white doily was cut & adhered to the inside of the frame.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ScSksJCIwB8/UPbqqh5RvRI/AAAAAAAAIow/vzP0HrOQazs/s512/IMG_1446.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ScSksJCIwB8/UPbqqh5RvRI/AAAAAAAAIow/vzP0HrOQazs/s512/IMG_1446.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I've tucked a bit of light blue & yellow tulle underneath the large Manor House flower. I feel that tulle tends to add a soft & delicate touch to a page.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jCFtP5f5B9o/UPbqq8kWiSI/AAAAAAAAIo4/YuwpyNZ_PXI/s512/IMG_1447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jCFtP5f5B9o/UPbqq8kWiSI/AAAAAAAAIo4/YuwpyNZ_PXI/s512/IMG_1447.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Here's the bottom half of the <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/Acryic_border_p/csabdrsquare.htm" target="_blank">Square Acrylic Border</a>. You just can't go wrong with alcohol inks when it comes to acrylic--it adds a fabulous texture to it!<br />
<br />
As usual, a big thank you to all of you who stop by for a visit.<br />
<br />
Enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

<br />
Here's my project--I decided to showcase the Clear Scraps <a href="http://www.clearscraps.com/category_s/81.htm" target="_blank">Build It Your Way Album</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-upcoz_Ncaag/UPI1mqOv5cI/AAAAAAAAIko/6WNTGZSYvl8/s512/Kay_Fatula_Binder_Clear_Scraps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-upcoz_Ncaag/UPI1mqOv5cI/AAAAAAAAIko/6WNTGZSYvl8/s512/Kay_Fatula_Binder_Clear_Scraps.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
I've used S.E.I's Vanilla Sunshine paper collection for this binder.<br />
<br />
I decorated the cover as if I were doing a layout--just without any photos. I had the opportunity to use several large flowers, trims & embellies that I had in my stash that were too bulky for layouts--but were just right for this binder!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jKrA5I06QKw/UPN9n54_QHI/AAAAAAAAImk/QBC3Jn_g7gw/s512/Album1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jKrA5I06QKw/UPN9n54_QHI/AAAAAAAAImk/QBC3Jn_g7gw/s512/Album1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
Here are a couple of close ups. <br />
<br />
The bottom right hand corner photo shows the ribbon I attached that keeps the binder tied closed. I'm not exactly sure yet what I'll be using this binder for. It may be for special photos or maybe as a journal or some kind of memory book or keepsake. All I know is that all of my memory books or journals usually end up bulky! So that's why I adhered the white ribbon that I can tie in order to keep my binder from flying open.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ibiXLnaddT4/UPI1mPxNYJI/AAAAAAAAIks/3UvPKqHJHKg/s512/IMG_1431.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ibiXLnaddT4/UPI1mPxNYJI/AAAAAAAAIks/3UvPKqHJHKg/s512/IMG_1431.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
These butterflies are items from my Etsy <a href="http://www.karlaskreativekorner.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>. I created them with this binder's color scheme in mind--I wanted a black and coral butterfly--this was the end result.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-44kaugIaFUg/UPN9n8cDNGI/AAAAAAAAImg/BunEqBLmjNc/s512/Album2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-44kaugIaFUg/UPN9n8cDNGI/AAAAAAAAImg/BunEqBLmjNc/s512/Album2.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
Now onto the inside of the binder. <br />
<br />
All of the acrylic pages I've decorated with stamps. I used black Staz On ink to stamp random images on the acrylic pages. <b>TIP</b>: Always remember, that when stamping on acrylic to use a permanent ink such as Staz On. Using any other kind of ink will cause your image to smear.<br />
<br />
The chipboard pages I've covered with different pattern paper. I've kept the pages fairly simple since--as mentioned previously--I haven't decided yet what I'm going to be using this binder for.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-z2AQekswj3k/UPN9nxL7qOI/AAAAAAAAImo/NU_6otg4wU4/s512/Album3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-z2AQekswj3k/UPN9nxL7qOI/AAAAAAAAImo/NU_6otg4wU4/s512/Album3.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
More pages from the binder. I'm enjoying how it's all coming together--best of all, I get to utilize my large stamps! :-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-r44jbrM3r2A/UPN9btsPNBI/AAAAAAAAImQ/9ahO9ovW2vQ/s512/IMG_1638.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-r44jbrM3r2A/UPN9btsPNBI/AAAAAAAAImQ/9ahO9ovW2vQ/s512/IMG_1638.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
On a couple of the chipboard pages, I've outlined the outer border with sharpie pens & added dots of Star Dust Stickles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KIh_1SzMCck/UPN9br7dSoI/AAAAAAAAImU/SAyFU55-YI0/s512/IMG_1639.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KIh_1SzMCck/UPN9br7dSoI/AAAAAAAAImU/SAyFU55-YI0/s512/IMG_1639.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
For the chipboard pages that have a more intricate outer border, I've decided to paint the borders with acrylic paint & then heat emboss them with Star Dust transparent embossing powder by Stampendous. In person these edges have a fabulous shimmer to them.<br />
